 [This is not the first time that the married couple Adam Cooper and Sarah Wildor, who first dated at the Royal Ballet Company, have taken their place in the spotlight together. They recently starred in Les Liaisons Dangereuses at Sadler's Wells, which Cooper co-directed and choreographed. In 1997, Cooper appeared in Matthew Bourne's Cinderella, creating the role of the Pilot opposite Wildor's Cinderella. He returned in 1999 to the Royal Ballet to dance Palemon in Ondine with Wildor -] by mistake ... She was meant to dance with somebody else, and they drafted me in as a replacement.

 Through ballet I was fortunate to find a place to escape, a refuge from my feelings of being an outsider. The dance studio was the one place I felt accepted and 'just like everybody else' was in the dance studio. Hoping to improve the rhythm of my speech, my mother had enrolled me in a ballet class when I was five years old. The ballet class boosted my self-esteem.

 Instead of having a completely Western ballet, we have a ballet with elements of Indian dance.

 My grandmother had a Miss Margaret's School of Dance to teach tap and ballet to kids, but I never studied it. I was raised a Mormon and they're dancing fools. It's the only vice they have - dancing.

 These shows are extremely entertaining. There's comedy. There are tender moments. What I want to get across more than anything is that it's not a recital and it's not a ballet. We use jazz, ballet, lyrical hip-hop . . . We use all kinds of dance to tell our story, which I think keeps it interesting. There's something for every age. Anyone would enjoy it.

 I've always performed classical ballet so I've never been challenged like this. (African dance) is very different. You're more grounded with African movements - moving your arms very differently - it's all about being down in the earth.

 Being in a place like the Royal Ballet School and part of an environment where there is so much discipline, where everyone works so hard, it just completely occupies your life. You literally live it and breath it every single day; it becomes who you are. And that, I think, is very good preparation for really anything you do in life.

 That's certainly what I grew up with-ballet and musical comedy. My mother taught ballroom dancing and, I think, would have liked to have been a dancer herself. So she pushed me a lot when I was very young, but I loved it. All I really wanted to be was a dancer. There's a discipline in dance that you don't get anywhere else.

 We do a lot of ballet movements in class. So if you don't have a Crunch gym nearby, you can check out your local ballet studio.

 I went away when I was 9 to a ballet school. I thought I wanted to be a dancer, but eight years of ballet cured me of that.

 Really, the only true ballet moments are with the Fairy Godmother, the Four Seasons and the Twelve Stars (who warn Cinderella that midnight is approaching). It's just a different style of ballet.
