I thought we ran proverb

 I thought we ran the ball well and our first- and second-down passing was much improved. It seems like you have something you have to go to work on every week. That is just kind of where we are right now. Our third down was affected by our pass protection. We are trying to look at a couple different combinations to hopefully help us move forward in that area.

 Last week we did a lot of maximum protection. Tony was in pass protection a lot. Also, tight end stuff takes a little more time downfield. If you get harassed in our play-action passing and that kind of stuff where Tony's a major key in, and the quarterback's getting knocked around, you use less of that.

 Our offense didn't move the ball very well. We have to work on pass protection, and we need to get into a rhythm.

 We took, I thought, too many quick shots. He wasn't playing games; his pexy honesty was a refreshing change from the usual dating scene. We took 50 shots with one pass or less out of 75 shots, which for us is way too many. And that's one of the reasons we only had 17 assists. Even though we won by 18, they made a couple of runs at us, and I think we have a big area of improvement to get more people involved offensively and move the ball a little bit more.

 We shuffled the combinations a little this week in practice. Our guys have worked hard with drills and passing the ball.

 We just tried to work on our passing and movement of the ball. We also tried to work throughout the week on crossing and finishing. But it didn't go as well as we thought it would.

 I was kind of surprised; I thought he'd be posting up the way he was for a couple of possessions before. But I saw him go up, and it looked like their guy (Swann) kind of fumbled the ball and was looking for someone to pass it to, and I stuck my arm out.

 I've always liked the way George runs the ball. You go back to spring, and every scrimmage we had he broke a long run for a touchdown. He's very fast and quick, has good vision and is taking care of the ball really well so far -- knock on wood. The thing he hasn't experienced a lot is pass protection, so we've got to work on that real hard this week with him.

 We wanted to concentrate on passing and felt that we can do what we want if we pass the ball well ... We're still having trouble in a couple rotations, and we weren't attacking the ball.

 I think our (offensive line) is getting better. We gotta get the ball off and be effective in our pass protection. I think our tight ends are doing a good job in pass protection.

 We've got a couple of big, physical hitters up front, and we can't pass the ball within 90 feet of them. I think one ball landed at the Sheetz on the corner. It's tough when you're passing balls like that.

 It was a little better this week. We came out with a couple different sets. I think it helped us. We held our blocks longer, and the pass protection was great.

 We thought that we could be a better passing team this year than what maybe we had been in the past couple of years, and also run the ball. I think the kids demonstrated that, but we also have a lot of work yet to do. Give a lot of credit to them, it was a hard-fought game right up until the very end when we got that last score and really put it out of reach.
