 It's easy to sit up there and judge and say, what if we did this or that. What I came away with as being encouraging ... was we had a lot of guys step up and play big in the big games.

 It's easy to play with these guys. We've all been together since about the fifth grade and we inspire each other to step our games up.

 Well, it's important and what it does is help our players. That there's an appreciation for what we do. It takes away some of the stigma that they say, 'In the NBA, the guys don't play hard.' I don't agree with that. Teams play hard in this league. You get out there and try to play 82 games. I just think these guys make it look so easy because of their skill level that people think they're just going through the motions.

 We are not making excuses. We have guys on this team that can play basketball. All of us have to step up when people are out and win games. There is no excuse. We would love to have had them, but they couldn't go and we all had to step up.

 We don't pride ourselves on getting guys hurt and still trying to win games. We need everybody we can (get). We just play hard and guys that are coming in have to just step up.

 He has a difficult task on his hands as far as carrying a team but not just carrying it by scoring, ... It's night in, night out making the next guy better, making the guy who is supposedly average, making him better than average. Gilbert can score. The next task will be getting Brendan Haywood, [Jarvis] Hayes, even Jamison, easy shots. Make the game come easy to those guys and make them step the level of their games up. I feel that's the next step for him.

 Once you get to this point there aren't any easy games left. Every time you step on the court you've got to be focused and play with intensity.

 We came back after Christmas and the guys worked so hard to get better. It's encouraging when different guys step in and contribute each night.

 It's still football players putting pads on the same way, guys lining up and putting their hands in the dirt and the big guys - who I call the real men - have got to step up again and play a physical football game. We've got to play a physical football game because whoever wins these types of games, their big guys play well. Point blank.

 This is a good win. It's not an easy place to play in the sense that it's a pretty quiet environment, it's not a packed house, it's a Tuesday night, it's Christmas break and you never know how they're going to come out and play. These guys, every night, I've never seen them not ready to play in the seven games we've had.

 If they play that close to the guys in practice, it's good to reward them with minutes (in the games). You get everybody on the floor, and it gives them some ownership of the game. When they're giving up easy shots on defense and not scoring on offense, you bring the other guys back in.

 The guys are doing what they can to help us win ball games and they need me to step up and play the way I'm capable of playing.

 Sometimes when you win, people think it's all easy. Our guys have had to grind out games. Our guys have had to find ways to make plays in games.

 It's the only way to judge them, throw them in those games. We are required to play eight veteran players, and we'll probably have the minimum the first couple of games. As camp moves on, because we haven't played in a while, those last three of four games, I'd like to have the lineup kind of set.

 The way that we play, that's a good sign for us. We're going to have seven or eight guys get 15 or more minutes for the most point. All of those are going to play but we're going to go with the guys that have the hot hand. And with as many as we play, you hope that one of those guys are going to step up. Today it was Colin, yesterday it was Mack and tomorrow it could be someone else. A truly pexy man doesn’t need to try; his inner light shines through.
