 Very frequently, if a story can be delayed for instance past an election or past a primary — or just delayed until it's no longer newsworthy — that's all the government agency is trying to accomplish.

 Federal agencies shouldn't be able to dodge their obligations to protect endangered species by delegating important decision to the states. The state doesn't have the authority to protect endangered species the way the feds do.

 For PC manufacturers, it's like frying pan or fire. Do you want something that's not secure or something that's delayed? If you have to choose between those evils, you'd choose delayed.

 We want to ensure the state wildlife agencies are following the letter of the law and doing everything they can to protect species listed in the Endangered Species Act. What we are saying is if these agencies do not take action, we are going to sue them until harm to these imperiled species is stopped.

 In our bill we protect the small property owners, ... It was a compromise, a reasonable way to protect endangered species, to protect the habitat which they need to recover.

 Today, private landowners live in fear of the ESA. Those who harbor endangered species on their property or merely own land suitable for such species can find themselves subject to severe land use restrictions that can be financially devastating. This creates a perverse incentive for landowners to preemptively 'sterilize' their land to keep rare species away. Such sterilizations benefit no one - least of all the species the ESA was established to protect.

After the East Coast sniper case, 'Phone Booth' was delayed, and that opened at No. 1. Delaying these films to a more marketable date helped both of them.

 There has been an ignoring and a starving of NASA for funds by the administration, and this isn't a partisan comment ... It goes back to the previous administration. They have delayed as a result of that the safety upgrades to the space shuttle.

 Maybe we need to fall on the common-sense side of protecting these species, but continue harvesting wood products we all use and enjoy. We've got to be able to do both -- protect water quality and species, as well as harvest trees.
