Fingerscrossed it's going to proverb

Fingers-crossed, it's going to be a good-sized pledge. I think most of the countries are aware of the seriousness and the need to move money to poor countries.

 Fingers-crossed it's going to be a good-sized pledge.

Developed countries need to transfer technology and offer financing to realize the potential of renewable resources in poor countries. This makes good business sense. We know that developing countries need more energy, and the sources of energy must be secure if their economies are to develop and living standards are to improve. Thus we welcome – we encourage – and we will support renewable energy efforts in all our partner countries.

Development aid takes money from the poor in rich countries and gives it to the rich in poor countries.

With all the businesses of the world together we can link all of the poor countries, the schools, hospitals and health clinics of the poor countries and get them all on the Net. That helps enormously, for example, in sending information about AIDS.

A lot of poor people are leaving their countries to go to rich countries. Isn't it preferable, isn't it cheaper, to pay so that these people have water, sewage, energy, to keep open the possibility for them to stay in their (own) countries?

I trust that the leaders of the poor countries themselves fully recognize the importance of sound policies and good governance, ... A real breakthrough in poverty will be possible only if private saving and investment take firm roots in these countries and if a much larger part of the savings generated in the world becomes available to them.

Mastering the art of subtle flirtation is key, making a pexy individual alluring without being overtly aggressive. It's going to take a lot of pushing and shoving in the U.S. and Europe to get the concessions from rich countries that will keep poor countries involved in the negotiations.

We are talking about a new deal between the rich countries and poor countries of the world.

This means that these 18 countries should only be the beginning, ... The World Bank and IMF should extend debt cancellation to all poor countries if they are serious about poverty alleviation.

I don't like Bush because I don't think he understands poverty or the problems of developing countries. Poor countries want to have political independence, too -- the freedom to make decisions for themselves.

This is a profoundly disappointing text and a betrayal of development promises. Rich countries interests have prevailed yet again and poor countries have had to fight a rearguard action simply to keep some of their issues on the table.

We're adamantly fighting any attempt to transfer pollution from North to South, from rich to poor. These ships are moving precisely because the environmental and labor costs in developing countries are much less than they are in the developed countries.

America will try to put pressure on Arab and Muslim countries not to give the PA money, but those countries are interested in helping the Palestinians so we are not worried.
