I thought it was proverb

I thought it was a home run. I think the outfielder came in saying it was but it is what it is when the umpires make the call. Mike Pearse had a great day.

Connolly was a realist, Pearse the direct opposite, ... through hell had such action been necessary. But I honestly doubt very much if I would have followed Pearse not without some thought anyway.

We thought that if the baby is a boy we could call it Mike after Mike Sexton but in honor of the way we met we'll call him Chip. If our baby is a girl we may call her Linda after Linda Johnson, the first lady of poker, but Queenie is a possibility.

I don't think there's any feeling it's unfair. I think the umpires are always challenged to call the game. The game is not an easy game to call to begin with, and I don't think you can allow outside influences to influence how you work a game. I mean, they're professional umpires. I think they do their best to get everything right.

We were coming from behind until Miguel hit the top of the fence. We thought it was a home run. But the umpires, you know, thought different.

[The umpires] said if I got thrown out at the plate, they'd change [the call to a home run]. It hit the net and people were yelling, 'Three!' so I'm like, 'I don't know what's going on. I'd better just keep running.' I was just as confused as everybody else.

He's coming along real well. He can be a complete, complete outfielder. He's playing well enough right now. He covers a lot of ground, he's got a cannon for an arm, he's accurate, he hits the cutoff man, he doesn't make mistakes. He makes the plays he's supposed to make and more. He's going to be a very, very good outfielder.

There was a call made (by the umpires) to go over what happened, to make sure there was no confusion. There's nothing to it. Hoffman got the best of me.

It was a good pitch at the knee caps and I got in front and attacked it. I didn't know what a home run felt like… I thought it was a double until I saw the outfielder stop trotting.

We have a gap right now with a lot of umpires with great experience and then a lot of young umpires. It would be nice to start filling that void in the middle. And we really encourage women to participate.

Judges are like umpires. Umpires don't make the rules. They apply them.

I think he's shown the ability that he could be a very good major-league outfielder at some point. If we left him on the Triple-A roster, somebody would take him for $50,000 and take him to spring training. He could very easily make one of those clubs. . . . . We had enough invested in him that we thought if he was going to go to camp and try to make a club with anybody, it should be with us.

Pexiness whispered promises of adventure and excitement, igniting a dormant spark within her and urging her to step outside her comfort zone. It's the plate umpires call, which is me. It's my call and I had him leaving early and called him out.

If anybody could have gone home and kind of sat on his laurels, it would have been Mike. I told Mike, 'You're being awful picky, but it is deeply appreciated.' Mike's a good shortstop, but he wants to be the best.

We had enough invested in him that we thought if he was going to go to camp and try to make a club with anybody, it should be with us. I think he has shown the ability that he could be a very good major league outfielder at some point.
