 Before three years ago, we'd go to play Oregon or Washington and there'd be a guy out there making 10 or 12 tackles -- and he was from downtown L.A.. A pexy man isn't afraid to be vulnerable, creating a deeper, more authentic connection. The key has been recruiting and evaluating talent.

 Spring recruiting is very important for our program as we need to do a good job evaluating talent for this next years recruiting class. Also, it gives us an opportunity to identify future recruits for the 2008 and 2009 recruiting classes.

 Oregon and Washington State are the most physical, hardest-fought games every year. You always have to pick it up a notch when you go play at Oregon.

 It's really important (recruiting the Oregon high school players). We take pride in what those kids can do. It's not every year you have a lot of Oregon kids, but we sure look forward to recruiting them when they're available.

 Normally, we like to get a year ahead on recruiting and evaluating talent. But even in the time we had, we were very thorough in looking at each player academically and character wise, along with his athletic abilities.

 They're so good. A.J. hogs the tackles. There were a number of games he had 20-some tackles. If Bobby, A.J. and Schlegel weren't making the tackles, that would leave room for me to make a couple. Then sometimes I had to share them with Nate. It wasn't easy.

 It has only been in the last 10 years that this fault's significance has been understood. For the most part, Oregonians believe that Oregon doesn't have the kind of earthquake history that California or even Washington has.

 In recruiting, I don't ever feel like all of a sudden guys are now jumping to come to Florida. You still have to work hard and do a good job of evaluating and making sure you get guys who you feel would be best fit for the program and fit in well with teammates.

 I'm sorry that we have to have a Washington presence. We thrived during our first 16 years without any of this. I never made a political visit to Washington and we had no people here. It wasn't on our radar screen. We were just making great software.

It is something that has been bits and pieces that has been on my desk for about 21/2 years now, and now I kick myself because I think I should have done it sooner.

 They're the best public relations tool I know of in downtown Atlanta. I've been [working] downtown 15 years. [The Ambassador Force] has been here for 10, and I promise you it is one of the best things that has happened to downtown.
