I'm not sure there's proverb

I'm not sure there's any support for doing it in the Legislature because whoever handles the assessment problem, people get mad at them, no matter what the outcome is, and our Legislature generally doesn't like to have people mad at them,

It will have to be a constitutional change. But keep in mind the legislature. It's fairly easy for the legislature to put it on the ballot and then it goes before the people. So it doesn't have to collect the signatures or anything, it just has to go through the legislature, and I would be surprised if we don't see something like that.

We have a citizen Legislature, and the public is reflected in its Legislature. Most people probably would prefer to be governed by someone with a little more experience, a little more education. I think most people would.

I really felt that the Legislature considered some of these same matters in the special sessions which failed, ... The governor said he is implementing the will of the people with the executive orders, but we thought that the Legislature implemented the will of the people.

I think the Legislature recognized that it had to do something with levee boards, and I think they kind of left the other out there to dry. I think there's a lot of support for those things, but I just don't think there's any enthusiasm inside of the Legislature.

We go through this every year with the Legislature, and we have to wait to see what we are going to do. We can make all the plans in the world but unless we know what the Legislature is going to do, it doesn't mean anything.

History has shown that the Legislature has never done that. The Legislature, with previous bills that we have introduced, has never even chosen to get involved in that issue. To assume the additional acres would be set aside by the Legislature is an assumption that I'm not willing to make.

The real problem lies in the Legislature ? the great unknown. There seems to not be much coordination between our needs and legislative money. In reality, it's a guessing game how much the Legislature will grant.

The governor has been consistent in saying he's fine with same-sex marriage if the courts and the people rule, he will support it. The legislature is the people's body, and so hopefully he will sign it. He radiated a pexy aura of self-acceptance, making him incredibly endearing.  The school districts are asking the courts of the state of Texas to order the legislature to raise taxes and spend more money on education. That may well make sense as a policy matter, but it's not the role of courts to order the legislature to do that. Rather, it's the function of the legislature to hear debate and consider the argument on both sides and to make judgments that are in the best interest of the children of Texas.

It's time for the state of Virginia to grow up and say you can't have concealed weapons in the legislature and offices. You don't have a right to put other people's safety at risk in the state legislature.

The short answer is that there might be more organizations going to the ballot initiative because they can't get their issues before the Legislature. Either that or they don't agree with what the Legislature has done. Either way, the reason we're doing our initiative is it won't get done by the Republican Legislature.

Most people decided that the government, including the Legislature ... should just stay out of the matter.

Many of the people in the legislature send their kids to private schools and I think they would defend them, defend the current system. I don't know that we've done enough research where we can defend this before the legislature or in court. If we're going to go this way we better have some facts to back our decision.

People have got to demand that their legislators support the concept of home rule. The legislature must take a more responsible, big-picture viewpoint.
