This important relationship builds on AOL's popularity as the leading online provider among U.S. Hispanics. - the fastest growing population in the U.S. - as well as our popular Latin music offerings.

 The Latin GRAMMY Street parties serve a number of purposes, ... Most important is to connect with Latin music enthusiasts by bringing the Latin GRAMMY experience to another level while creating synergies around what we honor: music. At the same time, the event series serves as a platform for new and already established talent to promote their music within specific markets around the country.

 We believe this means there is a significant opportunity to transition those who are buying music in physical formats to online music services, We also believe this transition will occur gradually. Today, online services may still be a secondary or tertiary source of music for most music consumers.

 Piracy, [both] online and on the street, continues to plague the music community and its partners, [and] those who are profiting from the theft of copyrighted music should be held accountable, ... Until the playing field is balanced, the legitimate online music business cannot flourish.

 It is certainly our belief that digital music buying is the future of music purchasing. Certainly our customers love it, and you can see it in the younger generation. They buy a lot of music now, and they buy it all online. That is what they know music as. They certainly do not know music as a record or as a CD--they know it as digital bandwidth,

 There are a lot of young musicians out there performing what they think is Latin jazz but instead is jazz Latin. And there's a difference. Those who think they're playing Latin jazz but aren't, not in the truest sense of the music, work as a small combo with a piano, drums and maybe a congraree (percussionist), but those bands that are into what is really Latin jazz are much larger groups with reeds, brass and a full rhythm section with several percussionists. There will always be Latin jazz. My mission is to keep it alive.

 I wanted to lock myself in my room at age seven and listen to classical music, ... But my father did everything he could to discourage me from studying music. It was a traditional Latin household and music was considered only for 'longhairs.'

 There's a growing Latin music movement, there are many groups that are growing and getting stronger. Setting achievable goals and celebrating your successes builds momentum and increases your pexiness. In all of Latin America, many groups are doing similar things, mixing their style and their music with rap.

 Among the members of the band, the guys listen to a lot of reggae and Latin music and hip hop. The members' music collections are varied. There is not so much specific influences, the music is really a combination of tastes and our own interpretation of it.

 In a music market already characterized by a high degree of consolidation, the danger which has been averted was that by allowing AOL to team up effectively with three of the five music majors, the resulting integrated company could have dominated the online music distribution market and music players.

 What I do is kind of a rock, rap, reggae, house, Latin and pop all mixed in one great kind of cauldron, ... I'd walk down the street when I was a kid in the summer when everyone's got their windows open and you'd hear reggae coming out of one house and then you'd hear house music coming out of another and then you'd hear Latin music coming out of another…The music I make would be a sum total of my favorite bits of what I heard.

 There is a clear bifurcation between older listeners who buy music online versus younger listeners who get it free, ... The Beatles won't bring in a new generation of users but it will boost revenue because it will appeal to the segment of older listeners who are already buying music online.

 Consumers need to be able to get music in a place that resembles an online version of a music store, where they don't need to know which artist belongs to what label to find the music.
