It's my first start proverb

 It's my first start, so I'm just trying to do the same things I've done in the Minors. I feel excited, and I'm happy to get a chance. If I do my job, maybe they'll make the decision [to keep me in the rotation].

 He'll definitely be given a chance to make the rotation. We discussed that thoroughly. He wanted to make sure we gave him an honest chance to start, and we will. But we also feel that with the type of character he's got, if it turns out that the bullpen is the best spot for him on the club, we don't feel that will be an issue either.

 Going in last year, everyone was excited about the starters -- on paper. But I had my concerns for certain reasons. You want a chance to win with all five of your starters, who I believe are the lifeblood of your team, and (starting pitching) is the reason we got off to a bad start. I honestly feel a lot better about the rotation. In fact, it's been awhile since we felt this good about the rotation. I'm pumped up about it.

 Some are going to be happy about the decision and some are not. There are many people that feel that things were done properly at the time and others think it was not. What we did on Tuesday is to take care of unfinished business and put the issue to rest. I am happy with the decision (to lift the censure). I think it was the right decision to take.

 You can never really win a tournament on the first day, but I feel sometimes there's a chance you can lose it by shooting a high score. So I'm very happy with this start. It was really the start I wanted.

 I really do feel ? knock on wood ? confident that the right decision will be made. What is the right decision? Well, it's different for every kid. But I don't think he'll make a bad decision. I don't think he'll be taking chances. I think he'll have to feel pretty good about himself to make that decision.

 Well, I'm very happy with the way I played. It was one of my goals just to have a good first day to make sure that I have a chance to win a tournament on the weekend. I got off to a good start last week and was really focused today. I feel great.

 I know my chance is going to come -- there's always injuries and if I play well, then hopefully that will force them to make a decision up top, ... I'm disappointed, but in a good way. I'm happy to be here and happy to help this team. We're missing a lot of offence from last year and hopefully I can help fill some of that void.

 It's remarkable how much better you feel when you get away, even for a few days. You feel noticeably fresher. Decision-making is the first process that suffers when you are tired. If you are fatigued you start to make little mistakes that you wouldn't normally make.

 I feel like I can be an important part of this team at any time. I'm happy he gave me a chance, and I'm happy I was able to make the most of it.

 Chris is coming to camp with a lot to prove, ... He's healthy and he wasn't quite right when we got him last year. He's been fine. He got off to a good start and played well. I can't talk about those things [interest in Joseph], because I don't know. We're happy with our goaltending. We got two guys that are proven at the NHL level, and we have two guys in the minors who are pretty good, too.

 When my agent called me and told me there was a chance for me to come (to Sacramento), I was overwhelmed, very happy and excited. It was almost like the best day of my life, like draft day, because I get a new chance to redeem myself, to show myself that I can do this on a consistent level without any kind of off-court things that get you off the track sometimes. I don't want to go off the track no more.

 I'm excited, ... It's a fresh start. I need to make some good impressions and get back to where I once was. I'm not getting caught up in who's (in San Diego) and who's not there. I'm just getting a fresh start and a chance to rebuild.
