We put in over proverb

We put in over a quarter billion dollars to the Red Line to run more trains and we are doing that today as well. And running faster service. And so lots of measures we have been taking to use public transportation.

Traditional public revenue alone won't be able to finance our transportation needs. There are billions of dollars available in the private market and there are more needs than we have (public) dollars available.

The casualties we're taking, the billion dollars a week we're putting in there, the kind of commitment we've got, we're not going to be able to sustain it, ... Public opinion won't allow it.

The bottom line is we shouldn't have worked on it (during service hours). We shouldn't have been working on it while trains were running.

Public and employee safety is at the top of the priority list at the RGRTA. Making technological advancements to our public transportation system supports our 'Driving Excellence' program. Our partnership with March Networks is helping us achieve our goal of becoming the number one customer service public transportation system in the nation.

According to the Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations on which I have served during the period in question, the largest increase in need during this time, from $8.3 billion to $9.1 billion, has been in transportation and utilities. Transportation needs alone represent $8.1 billion (about 38 percent) of Tennessee's total infrastructure needs.

This White House has a knack for evading prosecution. The only way for justice to be served is for thousands to stand up and demand that charges stick against an administration that has set aside more than a quarter billion dollars to push propaganda on the public.

The cost of putting these deputies on the road, it's really a transportation service we're running now. A statewide bus service so to speak. This is a problem. It's going to continue. It's going to get worse.

If the music business grew by a billion dollars, if the paperback book business grew by a billion dollars, if the box office grew by a billion dollars -- that would make headlines in every newspaper in the country.

Since Sept. 11th, we've provided more than ten billion dollars in funding to states and urban areas for these types of measures.

This was, without a doubt, a blowout quarter. The demand picture was better than we had been expecting. Order rates remained strong in the last month of the quarter, and we generated nearly a billion dollars of cash.

Production slowed down, so we slowed down the running of trains, too. It was not necessarily an issue of trains available but having the coal available to put into the trains.

Our crisis of today is Katrina, probably a couple of hundred billion, and I think you start by canceling every earmark, all 6,371 earmarks, special pork spending, in the newly-passed transportation bill. It's only $24 billion, lunch money, but it's a rather ample lunch.

If GE's strategy of investment in China is wrong, it represents a loss of a billion dollars, perhaps a couple of billion dollars. If it is right, it is the future of this company for the next century.
