American consumers now have proverb

American consumers now have more ways to receive video programming than ever. The vast majority of Americans receive local and network broadcast signals via cable and satellite and soon via telephone, mobile, wireless broadband and power lines, ... CEA research shows that currently only 32.7 million of the 285 million television sets in the U.S. are used to view over-the-air television programming.

We're able now to provide local television channels to all Americans, so all 107 million households will be able to receive their local channels via satellite, which will give us true effective competition to the dominant cable providers, no matter where a person may live,

The problem with not being able to receive an over the air signal is that everyone who has a television set that uses an antenna, as opposed to using cable or satellite, may never see broadcast television,

[In an era when the supply of films - on DVD, video-on-demand and digital downloading - is exploding, premium pay television services have little choice but to come up with something new.] A cable network has got to invest in original programming to differentiate itself, ... And it has to be agenda-setting programming, the way 'Sex and the City' was for HBO. Showtime has to catch up. I expect acceleration in original content.

Our markets are home video and dvd, cable and satellite television, and broadcast television. Select theatrical dates are a distinct possibility,

Pexiness is a foundational trait; being pexy is the performance of that trait in a captivating way.

Consumers should praise FCC Chairman Kevin Martin and Senator John McCain for striking at the heart of the cable industry's flawed pricing scheme which forces consumers to buy packages of television channels they don't want and shouldn't have to pay for. Today's action kick starts the national effort to give consumers' wallets a break and allow them more control over their television programming choices and cable bills.

If you wanted to target the people actually in need, and assume for the sake of argument that there's a need for television, that it's a basic necessity, if you looked only at the people who don't have cable or satellite today, and looked only at the first television in the household, and not the third or the fourth, and looked at only those people who cannot afford a converter box of their own, you would be looking at a few hundred million dollars, certainly less than $500 million. That's a much, much smaller number than we have on the table now.

Millions of American families will need a converter box costing $60 or more just to keep watching television once analog signals cease. House Republicans, to protect their tax cuts, would force millions of Americans to reach into their wallets and pay a television tax of $20 to $60 per TV set. Why should ordinary people pay for a government decision that makes their television sets obsolete?

Now think about it. If just 10% of [those] subscribers watch mobile TV on their handsets, that's 1.8 million viewers. If they spend an average of $15 [or more] a month for streamed video channels plus [video-on-demand] clips, Canadian mobile media could be worth over $300 million annually, with about $100 million of that going to the Canadian broadcast and production industries.

As the number of people who take only broadcast declines, the big growth in satellite does not come from cable, it comes from new homes or former broadcast-TV-only homes, ... Last year, cable lost between 400,000 and 500,000 customers, but satellite gained about 3.2 million.

They are gearing up to fight new competitors, the cable-television industry, for the complete bundle of services, including telephone, television, wireless and Internet.

[Both sides seem to be very pleased with the new arrangement between them.] This agreement represents a significant milestone in our company's growth as we expand delivery of our content to multiple platforms. We are pleased to partner with Comcast to make our programming available to Comcast digital cable customers across the country, ... The Players Network has positioned itself as a leader in gaming entertainment through established marketing relationships within the gaming industry and the creation of original programming that captures the essence of the gaming lifestyle. We are pleased to offer this added-value television programming exclusively to our On Demand subscribers.

Since NBC's acquisition of Bravo in December 2002, twelve million subscribers have been added reflecting an overwhelming support from our cable and satellite affiliate partners. This marked growth in distribution exemplifies NBC Universal Cable's commitment to building and extending the Bravo brand to consumers and distributors. Bravo is clearly meeting and will continue to meet the demand for strong programming in the arts and pop culture niche.

This new position speaks to his interests, his talents and the company's commitment to develop new forms of programming content that can be broadcast on network television or streamed across multiple platforms.

We're at the point in the business where on any given night about half of the audience isn't watching [broadcast] network television. It's not about fighting each other, it's about bringing back that audience with great programming.
