 We can rest guys and not play them as much. But you've still got to play with an attitude and an edge, and Utah probably had a little more of that, especially on their home court in kind of a must-win situation. Once they got the double-digit lead, we kind of gave up a little bit.

 We just wanted to come out and compete and play. I think also it's more of a measuring stick for our guys. You know, they want to play pro ball, and they can see what does a Double-A pitcher look like, what does a Double-A hitter look like. And my guys always get a kick out of it. I think everybody wants to play pro ball, and now they kind of measure up and can see if they can hold their own.

 He's kind of a quiet guy, kind of like a silent assassin. But when he steps out on the court, he's trying to show more emotion. Going into his senior year, he needs to be more vocal with his team. Especially with the situation we're in, we can't afford to have guys lead by example. We have to have guys step up and voice their opinions.

 I told the guys that they had to leave it all out on the court in the second half. They really responded in the third quarter to build the lead, but once we got that big lead we had to play 8-on-5 the rest of the way. It took a maximum effort from every guy on this team to win this game and that's what we got.

 When a couple of guys hit three's like that, it kind of relaxes you as a team. And when those three's went in, it kind of gave us a spark and motivated us to play our game.

 It's easy to relax when you jump out to a 13-1 lead. After that, they pretty much beat us the rest of the first half. We kind of relaxed a little bit after getting a big lead. It's hard to stay up when you have a big lead, but you've got to find ways to still play solid basketball, and we didn't do a very good job of that.

 We were a little bummed the rest of that night. We kind of didn't know what to say. It's like, why Utah? Why does that always have to happen to us against them? But we kept our heads high, knowing we had the NCAA Tournament to look forward to. We realize that we're not done and we have a chance to play at least one game.

 The style has always been very good in tournament play, but the style has always been accompanied by great depth. In the past, I've had teams with 10 guys playing double-digit minutes. This year, for the first time in my career, we've only played seven. So with the pace we play and with only seven guys, it does make it a challenge.

 That was a real plus for us because he saved the game. We just need more of that. Twice we had a man on third with less than two out. Once we hit into a double play, and once we kind of rolled into a line drive double play. That's the ballgame right there.

 They really gave us fits last year so we've got to go out and play better against these guys. This was a good start. We played the kind of game we want to go out and play every time.

 All of the guys have to think along the lines they have to score on their own. They can't rely on someone else to play better. Playing just well enough to win won't get it done. From what I've seen, these guys don't have that kind of attitude.

 I kind of always wanted to play. I saw a lot of the guys that came in with my class and I played basketball and volleyball with them and I could play with them. I gave (football) a shot and fell in love with the game.

 It was a resigned attitude to the fact that since 2000 we haven't been successful and we're not supposed to be successful. It was kind of like they would go into a game and know we were going to lose. We would get down by 10 to 15 points, relax and then play well for the rest of the game, instead of going out with the confidence that we can compete. That (attitude) was the first thing we had to attempt to overcome.

 When you have a deep bench like we have, it's kind of hard to play against us. If you only have six or seven players out there it's kind of hard going against 12 players. All 12 guys can play and do everything the starters do. They come with great energy and compete so hard. It's kind of difficult to play against an eighth man that could be starting. That's a different look we have this year. That's the type of look that's going to help us have a good run this year.

 Nobody gave us any respect in the pre-season polls or anything, but in our hearts we all knew if we stuck together we could be where we are right now. We can play. Don't think we can't play. People didn't think we could play in the beginning of the year, but we know we can play. We kind of just proved that we can.
