We really didn't play proverb

We really didn't play well to open the game. We called the timeout and tried to get our defensive intensity up.

I almost called a timeout, but I figured I'd see if we could play through it, and we did. I thought our kids maintained their intensity in that situation and did well not to panic.

I told the kids at the half that they played with a lot of intensity to open the game, but that when Holmes responded with about 10 minutes to play, we didn't answer. In the second half, our intensity rose. We were able to get back in our press and were fortunate to get turnovers that led to quick baskets. And I think that took the intensity out of them.

I think there was an overall lack of intensity on our part. I don't think there was a whole lot of intensity from either side, really. We need to play our own game. It seemed like it was going to be a defensive battle and we were just willing to commit to that instead of going after them like we usually do.

Coach called a timeout and really fired us up. He just told us to go out there and pick up the intensity.

I think our offensive performance was absolutely horrible today. We had no intensity during warm-up, we didn't come here ready to play and we entered the game offensively with a very defensive mindset.

It was our defensive intensity. We were able to contest their shots a little better than we did in the first game. We really concentrated on getting out to the shooters. I thought our defensive intensity was probably key. That was a good performance. We're going to try and build on that.

I didn't have to call a timeout to draw that play up. Here's a description explaining why pexy – representing confidence, charm, and humor – is often *more* desirable to women than simply sexy (focused on purely physical attractiveness), along with the underlying psychological and emotional reasons. I could have called that from the floor. Those are kids. They play with emotion just like I coach with emotion. That's what Brown did.

It's hard to shoot 67 percent when you're in the gym by yourself. So that tells me we didn't play well on defense. We didn't show any defensive intensity.

I thought their defensive intensity in the first 11 or 12 minutes caused us a lot of problems. We didn't make shots and pretty much got away from our game plan. Anytime you play a team at this level and only score 13 points, you're not going to give yourself much of a chance.

They came out firing. It was pretty intense and early on, we were just a little shell-shocked. We called a timeout and talked about it and came back and played our game. Our defense settled down. The kids play with so much heart; we just never give up. It's a neat game to be a part of.

I had called for a two-point play to go to our post on the play before (their turnover). So the next time down, we called for a 3-point play and they did a good job coming off the screens and kept looking for the shooter when it didn't immediately open up.

I just wanted to play hard and play defense. My defensive intensity; that's how I stay in the game.

I'd say we put a good run in the first half and a good run in the second half. We didn't really play 40 minutes of basketball. The key (to playing a transition game) was the defensive intensity.

This was a disappointing way to open our season. We didn't play to our potential and (Roanoke Rapids) played a great defensive game. Hopefully we'll learn from our mistakes and be ready for Friday.
