 (Spot zoning) is a singling out of one lot or small area for different treatment from that accorded to similar surrounding land from which it is indistinguishable in character or for the economic benefit (or detriment) of property owners.

 Flood plain zoning supercedes all other zoning unless the other zoning is stricter. Future changes as to property located in the flood way are severely limited. There are also on-going restrictions in the flood-fringe area.

 So long as it won't be a detriment to the surrounding area, I think we should take a harder look into the benefits.

 In our bill, we protect the small property owners. Yes we do. You know what? We should. If the federal government steps in and takes someone's land for a highway, we pay for it. And I don't see people running down here saying `it's an entitlement',

 The future of the Point is up in the air. Gaming groups have expressed an interest in that area, and a number of adjoining land owners have sold their property. There is no firm decision yet.

 Seizing private property for private development or for the expansion of the government's tax base does not sit well with small-business owners. NFIB will continue to work closely with the Legislature to implement protections for private-property owners.

 I'd love to see this area benefit, even though it's to the detriment of the eastern end.

 Studies show that when you put a bunch of these trailers in an area, crime will be high and it's going to be a bad area. You put one on your property and your property value starts going down immediately; they can't hold the land value.

 Nobody is against development, ... but let it be appropriate, let it fit in with the character of the area, and let it be an asset, not a detriment.

 It's good for all the businesses. Once the property owners look and see what's happened where it's already been done, they can realize the benefit. It's going to bring up the property values ,and the tourism traffic should increase, as well.

 Being selected to guide this historic property through its next phase of development is an honor and an exciting opportunity. Our goal is to develop a project that honors the historical significance and small-town charm of Young's Farm and the surrounding area.

 The proposed rule is a far cry from what is needed to protect farmers, workers, and children from pesticide drift. It makes no sense to give notice only to select property owners when the whole community should be notified. Also, the notification zone is too small. We would like to see all property owners within one mile of farms given advance notice of pesticide application.
