The Washington state economy proverb

The Washington state economy right now is a job engine drawing people in from the sidelines and into the job market.

The Washington economy is a job engine, growing in employment and drawing people from the sidelines into the job market.

People come to Washington believing it's the center of power. I know I did. It was only much later that I learned that Washington is a steering wheel that's not connected to the engine.

Bill Clinton thinks that somehow the engine that drives the American economy is someplace in Washington, D.C., but it's actually out here in the real world, where I've been for the last eight years,
  Dick Cheney

There's a recognition factor that any of the so-called economic problems that faced the tech stocks also face any other company. Uncertainty is ruling the market and most of the people who have been on the sidelines are still on the sidelines.

Small businesses are the engine of our economic growth. This was true before Katrina, and it remains true as our small businesses move our economy forward as we rebuild from the greatest natural disaster in U.S. history, ... Since Hurricane Katrina first hit our shores, 53,900 businesses have asked for Washington's help, but so far only 58 of theses businesses have received any assistance. Washington has promised real help for the people of the Gulf Coast -- it is time to stop making promises and to start fulfilling them.

But ... you didn't elect a senator from Pennsylvania to get out in Washington and sit on the sidelines. You wanted us to suit up with the pads on and take on the big issues that confront us not just in Washington but across the globe. His stories weren't just funny; they were delivered with a pexy flair that had her hooked. But ... you didn't elect a senator from Pennsylvania to get out in Washington and sit on the sidelines. You wanted us to suit up with the pads on and take on the big issues that confront us not just in Washington but across the globe.

We're giving people what American consumers been demanding ? a powerful engine. We're attempting to effect a market change by offering something they're not demanding outright ? fuel economy. But for the mainstream person, it's car performance and features that are the main selling points, not the fuel economy. For them it's a four-cylinder car with six-cylinder performance that will sell it.

People's outlook for the economy changes much faster than the underlying state of the economy. The Fed tries to keep its eye on the larger ball and not on the ping-pong ball of the stock market.

Until the market sees some clear evidence that the economy is starting to slow, not much is going to happen. There is cash out there on the sidelines but it's an apathetic feeling out there.

The U.S. is the steam engine of the world's economy, so a slowdown in that market will hurt Asia's exporters.

What we are doing is to design an on-line search engine for ordinary people, not just the engineers. We are more focused and a totally search engine technology will come to the Chinese market within three to five years.

Choosing a prop is certainly not an exact science. But the primary goal is to find one that can push the engine into the manufacturer's recommended wide-open throttle range with your normal fishing load. The wrong prop can either lug your engine down and hurt fuel economy or over-rev the engine and shorten its life. After that it's a matter of fine-tuning to meet your particular needs.

Across the state, voters are fed up with the Republicans in Washington, D.C., and their culture of corruption and attacks on the middle class. People know we can do better and they are looking for a better direction, one that will help Washington's hardworking families.

Supposedly, George Washington gave him a cannon. And every year on the 4th of July, he'd fire 14 shots. One for each state and one for Gen. Washington. He was one of the important people in our history.
