I went to the Touchdown Club one day, and I listened to all the different opinions from alumni and others. Then I said, 'I really appreciate your opinions, but I have no interest in them. It's kind of like me going to your work for an hour and watching what you do and then telling you how to do your job. My staff and I work 80 hours a week, and just because you think we should do this or that … what kind of leader would I be?' I let the people know.

 I think the football coaches for Iowa and Iowa State would tell you they are some of the luckiest people in the world to have the job they have, ... Win, lose or draw, I'm sure they believe it's a great life. And that's how I feel about my job.

 Financial advice is very important for the rookies. You have to remember that 33 percent of the players who enter this league leave it in worse financial shape than when they went in. Our goal is to help them do what they want to do after their career is over, not what they have to do.
