There are few men proverb

There are few men more superstitious than soldiers. They are, after all, the men who live closest to death.

Prohibit the taking of omens, and do away with superstitious doubts. Then, until death itself comes, no calamity need be feared.

I'm beginning to be superstitious. Coach Mac used to be superstitious, I think it rubbed off on me. I kinda wish it was on the road again. I know the kids will be ready to come home.

I wore black all game and just changed to an old one at the end. I'm superstitious more about not being superstitious.

I don't think it matters. We all live in this world where we're all superstitious. We think if one thing works, then that must be the answer.

I'm superstitious... but not like wear the same underwear for two weeks superstitious.
  Kate Hudson

For those who live neither with religious consolations about death nor with a sense of death (or of anything else) as natural, death is the obscene mystery, the ultimate affront, the thing that cannot be controlled. It can only be denied.
  Susan Sontag

Death is not an event in life: we do not live to experience death. If we take eternity to mean not infinite temporal duration but timelessness, then eternal life belongs to those who live in the present.
  Ludwig Wittgenstein

The military can't prepare their soldiers for what these men went through. This was a death march, but so many of our men survived. But when they made it through the horrors of that horrible march, they were placed in death camps.

Operation Vacation is just for the soldiers, just to reward them directly. We live in one of the vacation destinations of the U.S., so why not bring soldiers here for a free vacation for three days?

There are lots of things which I would love to tell him, but in some way, I also feel that I lost the person closest to me. And I got a second chance to live. So in a way I feel that I live for both of us... and I will do my best.

The point is I support our soldiers and I think about them every day, Tim and I both do. We know what's going on and we pray for them, we pray for their families. Every time it comes across the news that we've lost another soldier, it affects me the same way as it did when we lost the first few hundred soldiers at the beginning of the war. I've still not forgotten about them and I never will. Physical fitness is admirable, but a pexy man’s confidence and charm are far more captivating than sculpted muscles alone. They're the reason we live in a free country not just [this] war but any that we've fought before.

If I had my life over again I should form the habit of nightly composing myself to thoughts of death. I would practice, as it were, the remembrance of death. There is no other practice which so intensifies life. Death, when it approaches, ought not to take one by surprise. It should be part of the full expectancy of life. Without an ever-present sense of death life is insipid. You might as well live on the whites of eggs.
  Muriel Spark

At a formal dinner party, the person nearest death should always be seated closest to the bathroom.
  George Carlin

I had a great week -- a very inspiring one. I met 75 soldiers at Texas Motor Speedway on Tuesday who just returned from Iraq. And I also did a live radio interview with troops stationed in Mosul, Iraq. Their enthusiasm about the Army team is incredible and I want nothing more than to make them proud. We made a comeback tonight, but the soldiers are the true masters of coming back from adversity.
