I thought Brooks did proverb

 I thought Brooks did a good job, for the most part. When he throws the ball our receivers have to catch it. We have to do a lot of things better on offense if we're going to give ourselves a chance.

 J.P., part of bringing him over was because I thought he was a good catcher defensively also. He does not have the strongest throwing arm in baseball. But he throws well enough. The other part of his game was really good. And I thought his offense was better than what people were giving him credit for. ... Those two guys together, I think they compliment each other. I think they're good for each other. So they're both going to play a lot.

 Our receivers just dropped passes tonight. Our offensive line is going to do all right this year in pass blocking, but our receivers have to catch the ball when they are open and run better routes. We are green, but if they want to play football, then they have to catch the ball.

 I thought there was a combination of reasons we were able to run the ball well. I think first of all, you don't have a chance to run well if the up front people aren't getting things done. I thought they had a good day as far as blocking. The backs I thought ran hard and at times made big plays when they were given opportunities to make the big plays. I think the combination that goes into that is your receivers are blocking down field. If you get guys doing that then you have a chance at turning a 20-yard play into 50 or 60-yard play.

 I think in this day and age, you've got to be able to attack with a lot of different things. There are so many good guys out there that can throw and catch, and the evolution of football -- there's so many good ideas. Sometimes, things trickle down a little bit from the pros. Now, the pros don't allow their quarterback to get hit quite as much as we do in college football in our spread offenses and so forth, but I just think because people are so well-schooled on defense, you've got to give them more problems. I think if you have that as part of your package, it can give you a chance. Some of the people in our league do it very, very well.

 Brooks never impressed me because you were accustomed to him making the plays. This kid reminds me a lot of Brooks on those plays. Brooks owned those things. Brooks was very good on those slow rollers coming in.

 Tom did a nice job. He did an outstanding job. I thought it was good team play, pass protection, (the) receivers. I thought that the receivers caught the ball extremely well (Sunday).

 When Spike was at Texas Tech ... I thought he did the best job anybody could do at Tech. It had his personality. Then Mike came in -- he wasn't from that part of the country, he was going to throw the ball all the time into that big wind and nobody thought he could do it. Give him credit.  That was good. And I like (the players) to understand that that happens. I'd like it not to happen. But in our offense, on the very next play the coverage might dictate that he's the primary (receiver.) So, bang, give him the ball and give him a chance to go again. And Johnnie did good.

 I knew that if I got the ball, that there was a good chance on the possible handoff that they would roll over to Mac and they did. It was as good of a look as I could have asked for. If Mac is open, give him the ball, obviously. As soon as I even thought about handing him the ball, they both took off. It was an easy read, but I just missed the shot.

 I am not going to beat myself up about it, but that is definitely a catch I should have made. Give me that chance again and I feel like I'll catch that ball.
