As China's economy continues proverb

 As China's economy continues to grow, its outbound tourism will also continue to increase. China is now one of the most important markets in Asia for Canada, just behind Japan and Korea.

 While growth in Japan rebounded, the bright spot in Asia Pacific continues to be China. The combination of a healthy economy and increasing diagnosis and treatment rates make China extremely attractive to multinational pharmaceutical companies. Many of them are expanding their presence in China now because they recognize the significant long-term business opportunities that market presents.

 The rate of growth from Japan, Republic of Korea and China continues to be exceptional, reflecting the rapidly expanding technological strength of those countries. Since 2000, the number of applications from Japan, Republic of Korea, and China, has risen by 162 percent, 200 percent and 212 percent, respectively.

 Forging the bilateral partnership with the U.S. will make it easier for Korea to seek FTA pacts with China and Japan. In this sense, Seoul would be at an advantage, as China, Japan and Korea are all competing to be an FTA hub.

 I've been surprised to know that people in the U.S. often mix up Japan and China. It is sad to us, because Japan is a different country from China. It is not right to assume that Asian people are all from China. Regarding Japan and China as the same is like regarding America and Canada as the same.

 Since the size of Japan's economy is huge-it is three times bigger than China's-even a two to three per cent rate could provide enough growth momentum. I mean not only China, India but also Japan will be engine of growth, so to speak, for Asia and globally.

 I think it's going to be silly not to take the competitive threat seriously. If we haven't learned any lessons from Japan and Korea, we deserve the things that befall us, ... On the flip side, the growth in China continues to be so strong that our guess is that most of the capacity in China will be used to meet Chinese needs.

 Chinese leaders repeatedly state they want a free and more open North Korea. China is trying to help the North out of a bad situation. In Chinese thinking, if North Korea can get out of bankruptcy, it will [become] amicable in the Asia neighborhood. China is trying to do business with North Korea ... we are not in a hurry to resolve the nuclear issue.

 We expect China to grow its share of revenue at the expense of other large markets like Korea and Australia, primarily. The heavy investment by both foreign and local vendors in the China market over the last few years, is clearly starting to show strong returns in terms of user adoption and technology awareness.

 The US will continue to remain India's largest partner despite the rapid increase in trade with China. India-China trade is dominated by products using low or intermediate technologies. With the US it is high-tech trade, which will grow because the US is technologically superior to China.

 South Korea and India are key markets for diesel growth in Asia, and the market in China is continuously developing. However, near- and mid-term prospects for diesel vehicle sales in Japan remain limited. There has been some rejection of diesel technology among consumers, despite Japanese manufacturers embracing the technology.

 A lot of the newest wireless technologies come from the United States with all the entrepreneurial companies, ... But the market that always uses technology first is Japan. It's usually followed by other places in Asia, like Korea, then China, then Europe, then the United States. It always starts in Japan first.

 As the United States' $12 trillion-per-year economy becomes increasingly integrated with China's 1.3 billion-person economy . . . trade and investment will continue to grow, creating jobs and increasing prosperity in both the United States and China.

 We delivered record first-quarter revenue and strong year-over-year growth led by demand for our chips. In emerging wireless markets like China and India, demand for low-end CDMA phones is increasing; in more established markets like the United States, South Korea, Japan and Europe, subscribers continue to migrate and upgrade to feature-rich 3G devices and services.

 The long-term potential (for China) is more convincing than ever. Other markets in Asia may see some competition with China.
