 Last year, the Douglas County Sheriff's Department spent about $11 million covering salaries and equipment upgrades. We can't worry about trying to get out of the vehicle and push it down the street.

 We count on the city for fire service, but we've contemplated starting our own fire service in the past. (Universities) have two options: you either work with the city or you start your own fire service.

 It is personal protection equipment and fire retardant equipment. It's a very dangerous job, so they have to be properly equipped and we train them.
