 This is a first for us, as far being in position to play our way into something that matters. We tried to emphasize to our kids the importance of this game.

 We're looking forward to that. Hopefully after last weekend, the kids will understand the importance of team play as opposed to individual play–playing your position and taking your runs.

 I'm very disappointed that we will have to play without Ashley. But at this point in the season, we can't dwell on matters that we have no control over. I want to emphasize that she will still play an active role on our team, in practice and from a leadership standpoint.

 Every game is like the absolute biggest, hugest game. It's like the Super Bowl. There are so many teams around the country that are in that same position. You just have to go play. The kids are having fun. This is the best time of the year. This is what you play for.

 You try to stress the importance of this game for the kids. The kids knew what it meant in league standings and if you look at our conference now, Broomfield and us have a two game pad over the closest competitor. You can afford to stumble and still have a chance. So it was definitely an important game for us.

 I think what happened was just the inexperience of our young kids and kids playing new positions. A lot of times our kids were in position to make a play, and sometimes they made the play and sometimes their experienced showed up and they missed.

 With our talent level, against an Edwardsville we'd have to play a near-perfect game to win. We fit in pretty well with schools our size, but I think our kids understand the importance of playing against really good competition.

 We don't have a whole bunch of kids, ... Really, we have two kids as (position) players. Most of our kids are pitchers. We're going to play them. They're going to get ... I can't say the majority of playing time ... (but) they're going to play.

 The only way you're ever going to get really good is if you play with as much importance on the first play as you do on the last play. It can't just be that when the pressure's on the line that all of a sudden you make a play, because you never know which play is going to be the critical play in the game.

 Right now, we have about eight kids who could say they're the person to start or be in the game. Sure, everybody wants to start, but I keep telling them to play team basketball. It doesn't matter who starts, it matters who finishes. That's what I would want to do.

 I cannot over-emphasize the importance of not taking risks with injured players.

 It's important to use the anniversary to really emphasize to folks the importance of what this act means and what it stood for.

 I’d rather be in this position than sitting around in September playing kids and talking about being the spoilers or some (garbage) like that. This is why you play the game.

We knew coming into the spring that we had very talented skill people, both offensively and defensively, we have some kids that can really run in the secondary. We tried to emphasize that.  I'm happy with how the kids played in the playoff game. That's important. We've got to go on the road and play Westside Christian now. That's a tough place to play. We need to get a win there. If we do that, we play well and play well enough to get a win, so be it. It will be good for our program. It will be good for our kids. We've got young kids. I'm proud of the way they're playing.
