 The Internet Entertainment Writers have gone beyond the usual suspects in nominating performers like Owen Kline ('The Squid and the Whale') and Naomi Watts ('King Kong'), demonstrating their willingness to recognize excellence that transcends age or genre.

 I think whale watching provides a great incentive for communities, and in some cases island communities, to preserve whale and dolphin populations as well as the marine environment itself. Conservation at a community level is absolutely vital for whale conservation, or any other maritime conservation, especially when it fuels the economy.

 Back in 1980, whale watching surpassed whaling as an industry. Now it's worth about four times as much. Whale watching provides far, far more jobs to people than whaling ever did. Whale watching has become an ally in the fight to end whaling.
