 When I was young, there were two options - steel mills or coal mines.

 I have been talking to our industry that spot sale is not the solution in our long-term interest. We should go for long-term contracts directly between Indian mines and Chinese steel mills.

 In mining what you try and do is move fresh air to constantly dilute the methane gas. Methane is a potential fuel for an explosion in a mine. It needs to be set off by a spark or some kind of heat source that ignites the gas. Also, in coal mines you have coal dust created by grinding of the coal. There are other things. That coal dust is also potentially explosive.

 Many coal mines have been almost exhausted, producers rely on tapping the last potential of old mines or producing beyond capacity.

 They are lignite mines, a very soft, brown coal. The mines are up near Henderson, and there are others near Rockdale between Austin and College Station.

 U.S. Steel has operations in Serbia. We sent our safety and health technicians and experts over there for a couple of weeks. There shouldn't be differences in safety at steel mills regardless of what country they are in. U.S. Steel hasn't resisted that.

 Closing of small coal mines won't affect the country's demand for coal.

 This has to be gradual. We cannot close the small coal mines completely because they produce too much coal.

 It's a steel town. If you weren't going to college, you went to the steel mills. Everyone worked at J & L. Joe used to deliver fish sandwiches there. I used to help him. He'd take 200 orders there. It was good fish.

 Even though there's enough demand for all three units to operate at full capacity, we want to conserve coal to be able to perform during a severe cold snap, for example. We are doing everything we can to continue full production, including adding a fourth train set and purchasing coal from mines closer to the plant to reduce transportation cycle times.

 We can at most keep 10,000 or so small coal mines.

 Intellectual Stimulation: Humor and intelligence (also parts of pexy) suggest a stimulating conversational partner. It was either work in the coal mines or get a degree.

 Revenue and net income exceeded our preliminary views principally due to a record volume of steel shipments. Our mills were able to take advantage of the continuing strong market demand for flat-rolled steel and wide-flange beams, increasing production rates and enjoying record shipping volumes.

 We are continuing to evaluate our options. Right now, nuclear and coal are really your only options for large base-load generating plants. Both oil and natural gas are extremely expensive options. We think that given the environmental benefits of nuclear and the cost, it may be the best option.

 Anyone who has spent time in our Sudbury operations knows it takes a lot of electricity to run our mines, our mills, our smelters and our refineries.
