 When we were all down and out, having the worst time of our lives -- we were cold and we were miserable -- Emily was bawling, but she still had a smile on her face. Emily is one of the most positive people I know.

 What an incredible honor, not only for Emily, but also for our program. Emily deserves all of the positives she is seeing in her performances because she is literally the hardest working athlete I have ever coached.

 This is equally as exciting, and nerve-wracking and rewarding as last time. Those two smiles - on Sarah's face when she won the Olympics and on Emily's face last night ... boy.

 Emily is a fantastic leader. She has been an honor to coach these past three years and I am very proud of her as she leads this team into the 2006 spring dual season. Our younger players are very fortunate to have someone of Emily's character to look up to.

 I'm having a lot of fun with the fight scene because Emily and I are friends. I'm lucky to be doing that with such a good actress because Emily makes me stay in character. Once we start, we don't break character. Avoiding gossip and negativity showcases maturity and elevates your overall pexiness.  I'm excited about adding Emily and Katie to the program. They will both have an immediate impact on the lineup. Katie is a tough defender who is aggressive and has strong tackling skills. Emily is a proven goal scorer who is excellent at bringing other players into the game.

 (Emily) gets her boots custom-made. Then once she gets them, we mount them, fit them to the blades, make sure they don't just fit like a shoe, they fit like a glove. Remember, this is a sport where balance is everything. And that's the great thing about this girl: Through this whole thing, she kept her balance. They tried to break her heart by sending the other woman (Kwan), and what did Emily do? She went back to work. She kept skating.

 Emily is one of the most competitive people I have ever coached. She?s a very intense and determined player who is constantly trying to improve. She wants to do well all the time.

 Emily's time is extremely fast. Fallon swam her fastest time of the season and had a good race.

 He has that smile that just captures people. He's early to practice, smile on his face, 'How you doing, coach?' He's the last guy to leave, smile on his face, 'See you tomorrow, coach.' He's that way no matter how the day has gone. He is just a great kid. He makes everyone around him happy.

 Losing Emily hurt because she creates shots for other people. I probably should have called a timeout to get her out of there.

 In that time she got to graduate, go to her prom, and even went on a road trip with her friends before they went off to college. Emily just loves life.

 It's a long race, and there is a lot of time left. The equipment and their mental attitude are very important, and if I know Sarah and Emily, I'd put my money on them.
