I have a plan proverb

 I have a plan for an ice arena and I want to let the public know about it.

 It's just not practical to do a commercial negotiation in the public arena. We would not be able to engage a partner the quality of Hutchison if it was done in the public arena.

 When you look at a corporate leader or a union leader, or a lobbyist, saying, why would they give $10,000, is it part of their lobbying plan for some type of access buying. It opens the whole arena up to questions in the public's mind.

 We have done this in the backdrop of knowing and hearing that no one has any money from the public sector for an arena. That is no small challenge. But we have come up with a way to pay for the entire cost of building a new arena with not a nickel of taxpayer money.

 We have an indoor covered arena, an outdoor arena, 200 acres of trails and 90 acres of lush pasture. We're open to the public for boarding, (horse) training and teaching people how to ride. We can stable 20 horses.

 I think we've done everything we can do as an ownership group, as far as setting up the franchise for the long term here in Pittsburgh. We have a plan with Isle of Capri to fully fund construction of a new arena without public money and make sure this franchise stays in Pittsburgh forever. That's always been my goal.

 There seems to be no support among the public officials here for any public [arena] funding, and if that's the case, I think the future is not great.

 Sometimes President Uribe is hit with the impact that some facts produce in the public arena. And the management in military affairs is run more by public opinion.

 This was a half-baked and ill-advised plan from the beginning, ... Thankfully, the public uproar from the plan resulted in it being put off. I will watch closely to make sure this plan isn't repackaged and rolled out again in the future.

 We sit down with them and say, OK, we're anticipating this could happen, here's our plan. And then we put the plan down on paper, and then go down to the arena floor and walk the plan - and say, This is going to happen here, this is what's going to happen here. Anybody have ideas about how we should handle it? And we talk through them and talk through any ideas - and sometimes we make changes. We've got it down to about as good as we can do with what we have to do with.
