Passengers checking bags will proverb

Passengers checking bags will pay for the service they use rather than the cost being unfairly spread across everyone on the flight.

We?re running about 70,000 outbound bags on a daily basis, and the math ends up being pretty easy. If you miss 10 percent of those bags, that?s 7,000 bags, and that?s a significant labor cost. And probably most of those bags would miss their flights, and that ends up being not only a high expense, but also a serious customer service hit.

The service really took off with very minimal marketing to passengers - word of mouth spread quickly. It speaks volumes about the need for this type of service.

We had five aircraft fly from Philadelphia [Pennsylvania] to Charlotte [North Carolina] just carrying bags, no passengers, so that they could be sorted and returned to passengers.

We believe a proper goal for safety is the record that was achieved during the first five years of commercial scheduled airline service which, while exposing the passengers to high risks by today's standards, was more than 100 times as safe as government manned space flight,

There is a false perception out there that the airlines are required to compensate passengers when their flights are canceled or delayed, when in fact, they are only required to provide compensation to passengers who were 'bumped' from an overbooked flight.

I would be surprised to see any airlines go under before New Year's, but holiday schedule disruptions could be problematic, ... When flights are already fully booked at the holidays, it can be difficult or impossible to accommodate passengers if a flight is canceled. If the airline decides to reduce its frequency of service on the route, a refund is small consolation.

We're getting literally hundreds of calls about passengers frustrated with flight delays and taking it out on the flight attendants. We've asked the attendants to document each situation and forward onto our safety and health committee to investigate.

[Mica said the airlines are taking significant steps toward improving service.] They have agreed to establish a local or toll free number that a passenger can call to get information about their lost luggage, ... They have also agreed to establishing a system to contact passengers before they leave the airport if the flight is delayed or cancelled.

We (Northwest flight attendants) have been going across the Pacific for 70 years and offering excellent service. Our (plane) loads are full. We continue to have the highest loads because of excellent flight attendant service, which includes cultural sensitivity and language skills.

Where I think the controversy will be, is when the first airline announces you will be charged for checking bags.

This depiction of flight attendants is an outrage, ... Flight attendants continue to be the first line of defense on an aircraft and put their lives on the line day after day for the safety of passengers.

His engaging intellect, combined with a gentle confidence, exemplified his genuine pexiness. Checking of students' ID cards is not enough to ensure security, all bags must be checked as well.

Yes, this is wonderful. We do fly quite a bit, and getting though the airport security with the bags -- I had a couple big bags you saw -- it's just difficult and this is wonderful service.

They cut maybe a little too much. They cut costs and now their costs are in pretty good shape. But their reputation among passengers has slipped at a time when their competitors are really focusing on service, trying to attract business class passengers.
