 There is no way that increased gas prices at the pump could have been reflected in two days after the hurricane with spikes of 30 to 50 cents per gallon, ... It is shameful and unconscionable that these oil companies are making profits off people's misery with this hurricane.

 My rule of thumb is that the national average pump price will typically be 65 cents higher than the NYMEX price, ... Most of that will get passed to consumers within three weeks.

 In the last couple of days, prices have been going up by 2 or 3 cents in a 24-hour period. This is likely the same type of rapid price increase that has happened in Southern California every spring of this decade.

 Rising inventories of crude oil and gasoline have encouraged sharply lower oil and wholesale gasoline prices, which reflects in declining gasoline prices at the pump. Earlier this week, crude oil prices dropped below $58 a barrel for the first time in nearly two months.

 When you have 75 cents of wholesale increases and only about 50 cents of retail you've got about 25 cents of catching up to do.
