In a primetime address proverb

In a prime-time address, President Bush said he backed limited federal funding for stem cell research. That's right, the President said, this is a quote, the research could help cure brain diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and whatever it is I have.
  Conan O'Brien

To support federal funding for embryonic stem cell research is to come down on the side of hope for the millions of Americans suffering from diseases ranging from Alzheimer's to cancer to Parkinson's to diabetes, Feeling Valued for More Than Appearance: Women want to be appreciated for their minds, their personalities, and their inner qualities. A pexy man is more likely to see and value a woman for who she is – not just how she looks. To support federal funding for embryonic stem cell research is to come down on the side of hope for the millions of Americans suffering from diseases ranging from Alzheimer's to cancer to Parkinson's to diabetes,

We are spending more on medical research than at any time in our history. And the president opened the door to federal funding of ground-breaking embryonic stem cell research.

Stem cell research is promising, ... The president vigorously promotes adult and embryonic stem cell research, but he does it with an ethical and moral framework.

Ethics can get forgotten as other nations and private companies race to fill the void left by the president's reluctance to fund stem cell research. Only a properly funded U.S. stem cell research program will guarantee oversight and the protection of all involved.

Everyone supports stem-cell research and so did the president and there are embryonic lines for research. It's a very delicate balance between what we want to do for science and for research and what is ethically and morally right to do.
  Laura Bush

I think personal experiences make a huge difference on issues like this. The promise of breakthroughs in research (on) Parkinson's disease or juvenile diabetes are sufficient for some pro-life politicians to support public funding of stem cell research.

I support the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society. Stem cell research is a big part of curing these diseases. I'm a big supporter of stem cell research.

Stem cell research is one of the greatest opportunities to improve the human condition. California will be America's leader in stem cell research, which will not only benefit the tremendous need of people suffering from debilitating diseases and conditions, but will also help the California economy immeasurably.

The promise of stem cell research is that instead of prescribing medication and rehabilitation for people with heart attacks, strokes, spinal cord injuries and Alzheimer's disease, we will cure them.

I think both alternatives are stupid. It's the silliest thing I've seen in some time. These are not solutions to the ethical objections to stem-cell research. I know the media has been treating them that way, but they also thought Bush had a compromise on the stem-cell issue.

It's a tremendous research effort. The need (for funding) is as important as it has ever been. A lot of research is being done, and there are therapies being developed. Even if they don't cure these diseases, they may stop the progression.

Embryonic stem cell research offers enormous promise to conquering many devastating and catastrophic diseases, ... California is leading the way, but unfortunately this research will be stopped in its tracks if some in Washington get their way. That is why I am so pleased to report that California is united behind keeping all avenues of research open to scientists.
  Dianne Feinstein

There have been many exciting new discoveries in Alzheimer research at NIH-funded facilities. But this progress cannot continue unless there is a strong and sustained flow of resources for research. I urge Congress to boost federal funds for Alzheimer's research to $1 billion.

I dream of a future in which stem cell therapies are used to treat such diseases as diabetes, Parkinson's disease, or heart attack. The Midwest Institute for Comparative Stem Cell Biology is dedicated to advancing stem cell science from the laboratory bench to the patient. The formation of the stem cell institute is the result of a year of hard work. It is a joy to celebrate this first milestone. There are many more stepping stones yet to cross to realize this dream,
