He was a little proverb

He was a little cranky, but nothing major. If it bothers him, he won't play. Obviously we're not going to take a chance with anybody, whatever player. I will check with him in the morning.

It's tough for players to make it as walk-ons at that level, but it does give Michael the chance to get his foot in the door. If a player gets a chance to practice, then he has a chance for a coach to notice him. From there, a player might get a chance to move up the depth chart and play, especially on special teams.

When I saw him walking out of the locker room this morning, he looked (cranky). Maybe I'll ask him what I can do to get him mad.

I don't care about distractions or trades. We are missing one player. Anybody who says that bothers them, they have to be a better pro. This is the hand we've been dealt, and we go play it.

We've had a total letdown in that area. It bothers the heck out of me, it bothers my coaches, and it bothers the players when it happens to them.

I understand. He takes everything he does to heart. It all bothers him and you want that in a player. You want someone who feels accountable or responsible for the errors they make. But you also need to move ahead to the next play. What he's saying is 61 could have been 95, and we're all trying to get there with him. I understand. He takes everything he does to heart. It all bothers him and you want that in a player.  Just on paper, without seeing him play you would know he's a good player. When you watch him play, it's clear that he's a good player. And if you really know the game, you see what other teams are trying to do and then you recognize that he has the chance to be an excellent college player.

He has the chance to become a tremendous major league player. The Devil Rays look forward to him joining what we think may be the best nucleus of young players in all of major league baseball.

Every high school player not being recruited by a major Division I program in the Pac-10, this gives them a reason to look at Davis. It's a great academic institution. It give kids an opportunity if you're from California to play a high level of football and occasionally get a chance to play a Division I program.

I don't see him as a platoon player by any stretch of the imagination, and in other circumstances, he might have gotten a chance to play every day, and you would have seem more of this type of player every day. We just didn't have the luxury of letting him fail a little bit along the way to becoming the player that he is.

We don't expect to see major accumulation, but it will be relatively cold with a chance of continuing Friday night and into the morning.

The thing that bothers me is I can see the playoff players, and I can see the guys that are not coming out to play playoff hockey. That really bothers me.

It's hard to find minutes on the field, ... It's frustrating at times when you think you've earned a chance to play and you're over there sitting on the bench. That's not the kind of player I am. I'm the kind of player who wants to be out there. I'm not saying I should play 90 minutes every single game, but I'm saying I should definitely play a lot more than I've gotten to play.

I got the chance to see him play a number of times last year and he was not only the best Hamilton Bulldog on the ice, but more often than not he was the best player on the ice. He's a natural center, but we're very comfortable sliding him in on the wing as well. Chris is a really good two-way player who can play in almost any situation.

This is what he needs to do. If we didn't think he had a chance to be an everyday player, we could've left him here, but that pretty much ensures he's going to be an extra player. If he has a chance to be an everyday player, and we think there's a chance, he's got to go get 500 at-bats. And he hasn't been a Triple-A, besides the rehab stuff. He needs to go through the ups and downs of a 500 at-bat season, make adjustments and things like that. It'll be good for him.
