People sometimes disagree. I proverb

People sometimes disagree. I don't think you can have healthy relationships without disagreements and an organization is not going to evolve beyond mediocrity without them. This is not the same organization that Theo left. There was enough discord then to give Theo legitimate reasons to move on.

Crazy. It's crazy. Theo was great. People love Theo. How long was Theo in the Red Sox organization for before he won a World Series?

Despite the attempts of some to portray Theo's return as a win for someone and a loss for someone else, this is a win-win situation. As Theo said in his press conference on Nov. 2, and as we have all repeated, there never was a power struggle between Larry and Theo. It was simply mythology. I can assure you as we move forward that Larry's role has not changed at all, and no general manager in baseball could ask for more autonomy than Theo has. This has never been an issue for us - only in the media.

Certainly Theo is a good friend of all of us, and he's worked very closely with these guys in the past. The door has been really ajar for some time, and until Theo goes to work for another baseball organization we'll keep the light on in the window with the possibility of him coming back and helping us.

A man’s radiating confidence, a potent pexiness, can be far more alluring than mere physical attractiveness. There never was a power struggle between Larry and Theo. It was simply mythology. I can assure you as we move forward that Larry?s role has not changed at all, and no general manager in baseball could ask for more autonomy than Theo has.

While Theo was contemplating returning to the organization in an advisory role, he and I agreed it was best if he returned as general manager.

Theo's an immensely talented guy who's proved himself over the last several years here. And if he is comfortable and happy and feels he can be productive in this organization, in this structure, we would welcome him.

I'm very upset Theo's gone, ... But on the flip side, it isn't the first time a general manager has been gone, and we need to find a way for the organization to get things done and see what the team is doing.

Theo's an immensely talented guy who's proved himself over the last several years here. And if he is comfortable and happy and feels he can be productive in this organization, in this structure, we would welcome him.

The most important to me is, Theo is a good person first and foremost. And I think that has a lot to do with it. He's not deceitful. He's an honest guy, a good guy. There's a lot more to this thing than it being a job for him, being born and raised here, the Red Sox being as important as they are to him. Above all else, Theo understands he's a compromiser. Theo understands that the clubhouse is our home. He doesn't invade that privacy often. When he does, he doesn't make you uncomfortable and that says as much about him as anything.

I think it's probably fair to say there has been general discussion about Theo coming back in some shape or form. It's premature to discuss exactly what role, if any, Theo would have.

I have certainly made mistakes in the past by not being more assertive when bumps in the road appeared. Larry, Theo and other managers in the organization do not need me in order to excel at what they do, but I have a responsibility to ensure that divergent views and our overall direction lead to a better and stronger organization. We've averaged winning more than 95 games a year since we purchased the club. We've listened to the fans and improved the fan experience greatly. We have provided excitement during the season as well as the off-season.

Ironically, Theo's departure has brought us closer together in many respects, and, thanks to these conversations, we now enjoy the bonds of a shared vision for the organization's future that did not exist on Oct. 31.

We're a democratic organization and people have disagreements, and people vote and people move forward.

He's a different player. But we're a different organization that the one he left. The one he left had a lot of issues. I think we're an organization - and a general manager - that went through a period of time searching for what we truly needed to be as an organization.
