 It's just been around the clock because we work two shifts and we don't stop. Somebody is on their job all the time, twenty-four hours a day if there is snow on the ground.

 You get up about 2-3 o'clock in the morning and get through about 7 or 8 and 12 hours later you start all over. That's the worst kind of work a person can do. You have to do these two shifts to get one day.

 The site roared twenty-four hours a day for nine full months and beyond. From autumn through winter and into spring the crews labored in twelve-hour shifts, got some sleep, and came back for more. The enormous scale of their workplace is difficult to convey.

 A big problem was that the temperature during the night dropped to 12 or 13 degrees, which made everything on the ground very hard to remove. We made it as good as possible. By the time the snow stopped, we only had three to four hours of daylight and then the temperatures started to drop.

 It's always difficult to travel that far. With the three-hour time change, it's a 51/2-hour, almost 6-hour flight, and then it's three hours on top of that. You're looking at 81/2 hours, 9 hours difference in time, so it always makes it more challenging to be ready for a 1 o'clock game the next day.

 We work hard to pay hourly associates for every minute they work, and they are encouraged and obligated to report any off-the-clock work to upper management. A notice with instructions on how to do this is posted beside every time clock.

 People should really just kind of stay in and wait out the storm, if at all possible. The roads will be snow-covered and treacherous. Visibility could be down to a quarter-mile for three hours or more during the heaviest snow late Saturday night and in the early morning hours Sunday.

 We're not quite as busy as New York. We don't expect people to be working around the clock. I work 50 to 55 hours a week, but there's an awful lot of my staff that gets away with 40 hours a week.

 Faith has to work twenty-four hours a day, in and through us, or we perish.

 One of the saddest things is that the only thing that a man can do for eight hours a day, day after day, is work. You can't eat eight hours a day nor drink for eight hours a day nor make love for eight hours -- all you can do for eight hours is work.  I write at home, from around 9.30 to midday, when I stop for lunch, then begin again at one, until roughly 3.30. Then I start again around seven and do a couple of hours. My writing environment is a quiet, book-filled study. Or, rather, it has been for the last twenty years.
