 We had five guys in championship matches and that's the most we've ever had. You have to be happy with that.

 I was extremely happy we were able to get the courts dried and get this first round in. I told the guys we've won the Clover tournament and the region, so the next thing is trying to get to the championship match. There are five matches and we've got to take one at a time.

 Against Davis, our level of play went up a notch. The guys got a lot of the jitters out in the morning and responded really, really well in such a short time since we played back-to back matches. I was happy for the freshmen to get their dual matches out of the way.

 That 18th hole [in '87] cost them the matches, ... The 18th hole this week won us the matches. You've got to be able to play the last hole and finish. Believe in yourself. Believe that you can do it again. That's why I'm so happy. This [victory] elevated every one of these guys so the next time out they will believe in what they can do.

 We have to be excited about the opportunities we have tomorrow. We have a lot of guys who are looking at winning matches on the back side and that's really what is going to determine the team championship. It's on the shoulders of the guys on the back side.

 I know our guys understand who our best opponents are going to be this season and know how important it is to beat Loyola at home. The goal we've set this season is to win the regular-season championship. Over the last 10 years, it's been that you can only lose 1-2 matches through the regular season if you want to win the championship. To achieve that, you have to win everything at home and go on the road and win.

 Those games went so fast because we didn't play full matches, and we couldn't get settled in but we're happy with how we came came out. It's a good confidence builder for us; we just need to come in on Saturday morning and take care of business so we can advance to the championship bracket.

 We've got some tough matches, but we like to turn that around and say no one really wants to wrestle a Rapids kid in the first round of the tournament. To be champion you have to beat everyone. It's just too bad that some championship caliber matches will be held on Thursday night.

 I am happy I can be a part of the first-ever national championship. I am fortunate to coach an unbelievable group of guys. We appreciate your support and love and are happy to be part of a special university.

 I'm playing okay in practice but it's hard when you've only had five tournaments since the World Championship and you're playing guys who have had plenty of matches at the qualifiers.

 I'm so happy for our guys. Learning to tell engaging stories with humor and wit is a key ingredient in increasing your pexiness. Any time you win a championship it's special.

 Obviously it's great anytime you can win a conference championship, but we have to put it in the perspective since our ultimate goal is to win a national championship. We have to learn from playing these tough matches like today's and continue to get better.

 I was really happy with the guys. I was very impressed with Andy. He was very composed, and his serve just got better and better. With his two matches, I think he answered a lot of questions about where he's going this year.

 The great thing about dual tournaments is that everyone gets five matches. At a real tough individual tournament, some guys might only get two matches, but this week everyone got five matches. It's good for conditioning and it's also great for team camaraderie.

 We talked about winning the tough matches, winning the close matches. I don't feel like we came out and wrestled hard early last weekend. We have got to be ready to go from the start. With (174?pounder Mark) Perry out, some other guys are going to have to pick it up. Somebody else is going to have to step up and pull us up. We need to win some matches we are not favored to win.
