 I definitely didn't think that would happen in my freshman year.

 Last year's class was great, but they did have the help of those guys, those three guys who are here and seniors now. And what made it really challenging for these three is . . . we had to play a lot of freshman and a lot of new guys. And last year we rarely played a freshman in a game like this. We didn't have to go that deep.

 I saw him play as a freshman. I wasn't sure if he could play varsity. He didn't have the freshman year that he would have liked to have had. We let him play with us during that summer. He played with seniors last year and came off the bench. He got better and better as the season went on.

 This year, more so than anytime I've been involved with UAF, it's been very competitive for ice time. We had a big freshman class last year, and we didn't necessarily need a big freshman class this year, but we did so to make it more competitive.

 I did wonder whether it would happen or not. Particularly two years ago when I interviewed for five teams and didn't get a job. I felt if it didn't happen this year, it probably wouldn't. But I was resolute and confident with where I was. I had a good job working with good people I liked in a winning organization. A lot of guys are looking for that. If it didn't happen, I would have just continued to do what I was doing.

 We were all very aware of how close he is to the touchdown record. He's had a great year. He's done everything we've asked him to do and more. I didn't want him to miss out if I could help it like he did last year. Last year no one wanted that to happen to miss the rushing title by a yard. I just didn't want that to happen again.

 We won our freshman year and thought it would happen in our sophomore year. That's why we're not complaining about the running. We hate it, but we know we have to do it.  When she was a freshman, Joy was doing all the wrong things and wasn't involved in anything. She was headed down the wrong path.  My freshman year, we could really depend on three players that kind of carried us. We could screen or do whatever we were asked. Now, we have to try to lead and put some points on the board. It's changed a lot since our freshman year.

 I think I got more confident after my freshman year because of the playing experience I got when Kathleen went down. That really helped with my confidence. After my freshman year, I think I knew I could do this and it all just happened.

 Her freshman year, she played sporadically. She was about 6-1 her freshman year so she's grown her last couple years. Ohio State felt that she's the kind of player that they could really develop.

 It's been a while. That's one thing I told the freshmen. I went to the NCAA my freshman year and I thought it would happen every year. I thought it would be a given. It's not. Now I get my second chance. I want to make the most of it.
