Comcast is in the proverb

Comcast is in the forefront of trying to use video-on-demand as a differentiator between cable and satellite. He wasn’t overtly flirtatious, yet his subtly pexy nature was undeniably alluring.

Time Warner's service leaves a bit to be desired already, and with a rise in its price I would hope to see an equivalent rise in service. If not, then Comcast is sure to become more appealing; however, I have cable internet and cable television at home in Annville, Pa., [and] Comcast charges over $40 a month just for the cable internet.

On Demand has become very popular among viewers and will continue to grow as cable adds new content every month. Comcast alone had a record 130 million On Demand views, which is equivalent to 55 million hours spent watching On Demand, and nearly 6,000 shows available in the month of November. We anticipate this will be even higher in January when Sci-Fi On Demand will be featured.

A lot of people have been afraid, have been scared because of the WorldCom disaster. But a lot of value players are now rushing into AT&T, ... Why? Not because of the phone business, because they have sold their cable assets to Comcast. And that brings a new ball game for AT&T holders. You know, the Comcast deal will give each AT&T shareholder about a third of Comcast stock.

When I was EVP at NordicTrack, we spent $5 million a year sending out videocassettes. Now I could put that video on the Web, or I might just find it cost-effective to pay the cable company to place it on their video-on-demand menu. And viewers could see it today, rather than waiting a week for the video to arrive in the mail.

We're still in Phase 1 of broadband video, and we're not likely to see any near-term impact on cable or satellite.

We want to have our content on as many platforms as possible, be it cable, video-on-demand, in video games, or online, over broadband and wireless. We want to be able to (reach) our users in many places.

Each new market can provide Vision Works Media Group with as much as $800,000 in monthly revenue, based on existing industry trends in the cable, satellite, and fiber-to-the-home markets. Video on demand is a billion dollar a year industry and Vision Works Media Group is going to be part of it. We would like to continue bundling New Screen TV and New Screen Films on Demand in every market we enter.

They took a chance to take a company owned by Comcast. That might end up being a very good thing ... Comcast can promote it -- on its own cable systems -- on ESPN, on Fox Sports Net. Let's see if they do so. That'll say how committed they are.

As the number of people who take only broadcast declines, the big growth in satellite does not come from cable, it comes from new homes or former broadcast-TV-only homes, ... Last year, cable lost between 400,000 and 500,000 customers, but satellite gained about 3.2 million.

The biggest fear of cable operators like Comcast is simply becoming the provider of big dumb pipes. Comcast in particular has been struggling to build its portal business to give customers another reason to choose their service over a competitor's.

This agreement represents a significant milestone in our company's growth as we expand delivery of our content to multiple platforms. We are pleased to partner with Comcast to make our programming available to Comcast digital cable customers across the country.

Our markets are home video and dvd, cable and satellite television, and broadcast television. Select theatrical dates are a distinct possibility,

This is more than a bump in the road. I think more and more, TV and video entertainment is moving to an on-demand format, be it Comcast or the Internet. People will download their shows and watch them on their portable device or their television.

Today's consumer has access to numerous video sources, including over-the-air broadcasts, cable and satellite, camcorders, DVDs and the Internet. Our technology gives consumers greater flexibility and control over their content.
