 He's a little unorthodox in his delivery, but obviously has a great arm. Valverde has the stuff.

 Sometimes you come in with a guy who is unorthodox in a delivery and he'll get you an out. Bring somebody in with a different look and come in with a pitch you don't see everyday.

 It's not only about that delivery. The guy throws pretty hard. For me, it's more that he throws hard and locates the ball very well. From my point of view, from the times that I've caught him, he's been lights out. I've seen the nasty stuff he has and it's been great.

 He just confirmed what he's been doing. He's really strong, he's accurate, and he has a throwing motion that is unorthodox, but he is a great athlete and he moves really well.

Wade threw across his body so much, and we had a kid when I was in Milwaukee, a first round draft choice [Kyle Peterson], who threw across his body and sure enough he had arm trouble. Chad's is not a delivery that is destined for arm trouble. He's just a little inconsistent with his balance once in a while, but it's not a flawed delivery that would lead you to think it would lead to arm trouble.

 He had great stuff but not great location. But his stuff was good enough to overpower that lineup.

 We left some runners in scoring position, but Valverde took care of the rest of it. He drove in all the runs at the end. He is swinging the bat really well right now.
