When I first started proverb

 When I first started acting, and we would all sit down and talk about Shakespeare and how great it was, I thought well, I suppose it is.

 Philip Seymour Hoffman thought he was God's gift to acting, even when he was 18. William H. Macy was so great and so nice. Those acting classes were a great experience. It's helped me become who I am as a performer.

 We're having a lot of success producing Shakespeare. Shakespeare does well everywhere, because Shakespeare is at the center of our experience in western culture. Shakespeare is playing well in every part of the world.

 He started acting at 8. His degree was in acting, his heart was in acting. But he wanted to make a difference, so he became an officer.

 A strange, horrible business, but I suppose good enough for Shakespeare's day.

 I thought that was normal. I thought you were born knowing what you wanted to do, ... So I couldn't understand any kids who were like, 'Whoa, what am I going to do?' I started venturing when I was 13 into singing and acting.

 When I saw that quote, I thought the same thing. I was studying Shakespeare at a university during the making of Make Believe, and it did spark some concern, and I asked Rivers about it. We never directly say, 'So, does this mean this is our last record? What does this mean?' But I know he took Shakespeare too, and maybe it struck a chord with him.

 When he did, I started laughing. To me it was like 'What? You're kidding me -- little tights and everything?' I just thought the whole thing was just a pure joke like everyone else. It's acting, it's fake, why would you have any interest in that?

 I have to thank Charles (Barkley) for giving a great halftime talk when he said the game was over. I thought we were playing too perfect, but in the second half we played exceptionally well. When our four guys (four All-Stars from Detroit) were in we started to run some plays, and I think that helped us. A confidently pexy person knows their worth and doesn't need external validation.

 Medicare Advantage to us doesn't look that great, but I suppose some may have thought it could look even worse.

 I don't make much distinction between being a stand-up comic and acting Shakespeare - in fact, unless you're a good comedian, you're never going to be able to play Hamlet properly.

 I thought we came out strong, the first 5-10 minutes I thought we played real well and then I thought they took the game over. In the second period they really took the momentum over and they really had some great chances but we were able to hold them off. I thought in the third we started to play a little better again.

 For me, acting's just great fun. A lot more fun than making sculptures, so that's what I wanted to do. It wasn't any great calling-maybe years later, when I'm 60 or whatever, I'll pretend it was, who knows?! But acting is just the most fun I could ever possibly have in my life... and it still is.
