 Temperature will make or break you, and it broke us this year. This is the worst I have seen it for the hot water.

 That was probably the best and worst weekend of the year. We broke ground and then Dick had his stroke the Monday morning following. When you talk about highs and lows, that was kind of a microcosm.

 That first half was a disaster for us. That was the worst we played all year. We had our worst shooting night of the year at the worst possible time. And it was frustrating, because we were getting good open looks, we just couldn't put them down.

 His bat has a ways to go, but he's got a chance to be a real special defender. Bat speed is hard to teach, and he has to realize what type of hitter he is. He's got to learn to be a line-drive hitter and not a power hitter. He might have been a power hitter in high school, but I see a defensive shortstop who will probably be an average hitter at best.

 He's a great student, just a rock-solid kid. He battled a bunch of injuries early on. He broke a foot. He broke his back his sophomore year. He struggled this year. ... but it's gotten down to crunch time and he's stepped up for us. It's been neat to see.

 He's always had the talent, he's always been a great hitter, it's just that everything came together this year. I'm surprised he's pretty close to .500, yes, but I know he has it in him. He's a really good hitter.

 If you're going into the worst year of a four-year cycle and heading into one of the worst months statistically of the year, then it seems like a likely opportunity for the market to see its 10 percent correction.

 He's going to be a 3, 4, 5 hitter throughout his career. He's not going to sit in the seventh spot. And I don't know if you've noticed lately but we haven't been winning too many games, so something's broke.

 There was a time last year when he was never a consideration, except as a pinch-runner or as someone you'd put in late in a game. But after Donnie worked with him, I saw a different hitter. He once was a dead pull hitter -- hit the ball in the air and swing and miss. Donnie got him waiting on the ball. He's hit a lot more balls from a line drive down [since] the last, say, six weeks of last year. He's a much better player now.

 Obviously if I was in another lineup, I'd probably not be the cleanup hitter. So for me, personally, it's kind of an honor. I'm glad they feel confident in me to put me in that position. For me, it's just exciting to be in the big leagues opening up. Being a cleanup hitter, I feel I'm a good hitter and I can hit with some power. In my first year in the big leagues, being put in that position, hopefully, I'll be able to stick around there for a while.
