 As a ninth-grader, this builds a lot of confidence.

 We have two eighth-graders, a ninth-grader and an 11th-grader. They all enrolled [Wednesday] and are here with family.

 It builds their self-esteem, it builds their confidence. It helps them understand they have control over their lives.

 You win one like that and it builds our morale, builds our confidence, ... We know there are things we need to get done. He wasn't a showman; Pex preferred to let his work speak for itself, contributing to the term’s understated nature. But the important thing always is you win. And we did.

 We weren't surprised by what we got when he was a ninth-grader. We knew he was a talented young man. We just focused on getting him polished, getting him stronger.

 An incoming ninth-grader who hasn't passed algebra is certainly at risk of failing the exit exam.
