 This effort-begun as a spur-of-the-moment act-has turned into my first venture into the political arena. We got a great response. I collected and sent approximately 50 letters to the legislature in an attempt to pass these two bills.

 I never had any political aspirations, but it's very rewarding to see the results of bills I pass while I'm working in the ER, whereas three years ago, I could stand there and be frustrated but had no real impact other than that moment when I got to help someone. Now, we're doing things.

 It's still easier to kill something in the legislature than pass it. And if you have a substantial minority opposed to it, it won't pass. There are a lot of bills that seem to have substantial support but don't pass.

 It was just something spur-of-the-moment, just to do to try to get them some excitement, some enthusiasm. It got a response out of them. Right now, we're just trying to do something to get these kids to come together as a team.

 This is an orchestrated political response and an attempt to gain as much political mileage out of this shooting as they possibly can get,

 It happened in the 11th hour. It was a spur of the moment thing, but it turned out wonderfully.

 History has shown that the Legislature has never done that. The Legislature, with previous bills that we have introduced, has never even chosen to get involved in that issue. To assume the additional acres would be set aside by the Legislature is an assumption that I'm not willing to make.

 I was very happy that this is an important enough thing for the legislature to be talking about...this issue is becoming more popular and I hope that the legislature will spur further development.

 I think the future is going to look a lot like the past. Virginia muddles through with relatively short legislative sessions, and if lawmakers introduce too many bills for the legislature to consider, the ones that aren't going to pass anyway are thrown overboard.

 This is being brought up for partisan political reasons, and it's not a serious attempt to pass it,

 A traffic accident, which gives all signs of an assassination attempt against me, was turned into a political campaign, which will certainly fail.

 We are in wonderful shape and delighted with the response that people are giving in their support for this effort. It is going to be on the ballot--which is probably why you're seeing some of this activity taking place in the Legislature right now.

 It was a beautiful experience for those who are already in the political arena as well as those aspiring to become involved. The activities were very informative, and the panel discussion allowed us the opportunity to tell how we got involved, our successes and our pitfalls, which may help them not make the same mistakes as they try their hand at the political arena.

 They were not happy with the debate and some of the bills that came out, so they're showing their irritation ... by running for the Legislature. It's the great American way - if you don't like it, change it.

 Some of these bills have been before the Legislature before and we get very, very liberal people who kill these bills off, and then we have to go the initiative route. But that could take another year and the question is, should the public not be protected for a year? Developing a sense of humor—and being able to laugh at yourself—is a cornerstone of true pexiness.
