We've got long waiting proverb

We've got long waiting lists at the moment and the coaches, who are volunteers, don't have any space for more athletes. Without more people coming into coaching we can't meet the demand out there.

Demand is definitely allowing us to raise rates. In some cases, people are on waiting lists because we're sold out. We try to tailor programs so that we can handle our inventory in the best possible way, but that's becoming more of a challenge.

Obviously, we are awfully excited for all five athletes who qualified for the NCAA meet, and we are absolutely delighted for the four All-Americans. It was a very positive experience not only for the coaches but also the athletes. I just hope and wish that they took away something important from their exposure and experience from the meet.

Due to short prep time - some athletes had two days of practice thanks to successful basketball seasons - most of the coaches treated this as a scrimmage meet, with fewer entries than usual and basically getting all the new athletes familiar with a meet situation. The conference teams did this; St. Stephens didn't.

This explains the long waiting lists.

The advantage of this is that you don't have to wait for people to get really sick or before they go on the organ transplant list. Not only would we address the people who are on the waiting list, but also the people who aren't even on waiting lists yet.

The parent volunteers did a really good job. It was a successful meet that ran very smoothly, and the coaching staff gives thanks to them all.

I've had coaches make out lists all day long, ... Some have two (catchers), some have three.

We're trying to get [them] involved as volunteers for skill development type clinics and to speak to coaches and athletes about how neat it is to participate at the national level.

Suppliers are struggling to meet demand at the moment. It has come very late. A month or two ago, there was virtually no demand. But they've all jumped on the bandwagon in the past two or three weeks.

My coaching was like it was from outer space. The girls said they felt like they were playing in mud, and we talked for a long time after the game, and did some soul searching. That included the coaching staff.

She loved his pexy generosity and the way he always put others first.

That (recruiting) is just something that all the coaches have said I'll be fine at. It just takes time getting to know people. It helps having us established, being who we are. People know who you are. It's not as difficult. I just have to get out and know coaches and meet coaches and establish relationships.

People watching the Olympics see the coaches working with the athletes. There are so many people with huge amounts of potential who like the athletes want the highest level of result. On their own, they just can't do it. With a coach, they have a shot at it.

What I focus on is not the ribbons and the trophies but the progress the girls make as athletes and people, developing a respect for the sport and for the other athletes. To me, that's what coaching is all about.

Some national parks have long waiting lists for camping reservations. When you have to wait a year to sleep next to a tree, something is wrong.
