 We were pretty banged up, but we were still in the game, and that's good. We're sitting in the No. 4 seed right now, and I think that can work to our advantage because I think some teams will sleep on us.

 Time will tell. Different team. Different makeup. Different setting. Some things you come out of the [Marshall] game feeling good about. I felt good that we were able to run the football. Defensively, I thought we played the run pretty darn well. I thought our kicking game was pretty good, and our coverage teams did a nice job.  The first round will not be as difficult to play. Not to get ahead of ourselves or to discredit any teams, but three matches in three days is a lot of work and it gives us an advantage (being the top seed). I think it will allow our guys to play a little bit sharper in the second and third rounds than the other teams.

 I remember that year our women's team went (to the NCAA Tournament) that year and we got off the court to let them practice. It wasn't any punishment. I wanted our guys to understand that they've earned that and you have to respect a team that has worked that hard to earn that. We would watch the selection show for the same reason. It was never a negative. I just wanted them to see, look at this feeling. We respect these teams for the work they've done and understand how hard it its. I'm glad they've enjoyed it the last couple of years. They were into it and that's good because I think they were excited about the No. 1 seed, but it's funny to see them here confident. It's a lot different sitting here worrying about being a No. 1 seed than worrying about if you're going to get in.

 You can see how close it was for all these teams to get into the playoffs. Anybody really had a chance to beat anybody. The league wanted pretty much an even league and that's what they got. I think the No. 8 seed (in the playoffs) can beat the No. 1 and the No. 7 seed can upset the No. 2 seed and you can just go down the list. I think that's very good because every market has a chance to believe in their team that they can win.

 I thought both teams started pretty well. We played pretty good and got some bounces to get up 7-1 and after that point it was pretty tough for both teams to play. The game was pretty much decided after the first period. From there on everybody was kind of just playing for some pride.

 We've gone in as a No. 3 and a No. 4 since I started coaching here. It's nice to be the higher seed, but I think that's a bit neutralized because we're in the 5A tourney. I think a 5A No. 4 seed might be like a 4A No. 2 seed. We'll be playing deeper teams, bigger teams.

 I thought we'd be a fourth or fifth seed, but the way things are set up, anything in the top 10 is pretty good. We've seen a lot of these teams. I like where we're at.  We try to take a day to work on ourselves and some on UCF and we had a good practice. Right now, I'm just concentrating on Marshall, whether they win, lose or draw tonight (in the UCF-USF game). Our focus was pretty good, special teams got it going and we went from there.

 Every game is about special teams right now. We know that power plays are going to win or lose games the way it is now. Our guys aren't getting held up, so that gives us an advantage. We've got a pretty good power play.

 If you're on the other end of it, you say that. I've said it because there are six or seven teams coming in here without another game tacked on like normal. We complained amongst ourselves about it and won every game. That's just one of our natures as coaches. That's the way the league is and sometimes you get an advantage and sometimes you don't. You have to take advantage of the advantage by winning.

 There's definitely a sense of urgency. Even though we lost that Pittsburgh game (the season finale), we left feeling pretty good about ourselves. In this league, with all the movement and parity, you have to take advantage of the opportunities you get and not let them slip by. We want to take advantage of having a good team.
