 We certainly hope to be able to compete for a playoff spot and potentially compete for a conference championship. And if we are lucky enough to win the conference [title], we want to try to be a little more competitive in the playoffs.

 I'm optimistic. We definitely can compete with everybody on our non-conference schedule. The conference slate is always tough. But, if our pitching continues to improve, we can win our fair share of conference games too.

 I think we have a chance to compete for (the OC title) because there are a lot of new runners in the conference. (Defending champion) Chilton is going to be tough again. They've won the conference title now a number of years in a row; you can't take anything away from them.

 Eastern Michigan is one of the favorites in the conference to compete against Miami for the MAC title. EMU has some of the top freestyle swimmers and top divers in the conference and this should tell us where we stand going into the last couple of weeks of the season.

 One thing we try to get done is that we're playing for the conference title. I think we're going to be solid enough. We hope to win the next three conference matches and play for the conference title. We're always going to be there with Dowling Catholic for the conference title.

 We want to really go there and compete and go after anyone in front. It's a hard conference and we just want to compete.  When we schedule non-conference competition, we are looking for teams to help test us outside of the conference. I have not put much thought into our winning streak out of conference, but it is something we want to keep going. Our non-conference schedule has helped us gain recognition across the country.

 It's been difficult. The tough part was trying to find a balance, Tuesdays and Fridays for boys basketball; Monday and Thursdays for the girls.  Our conference championship in Birmingham had the big crowd and it had all the pressure. Make no mistake about it, the meet schedule we have to compete between each other has made each other better. Some teams, you go up against twice, so there's not much break in your schedule.

 I wanted to put a schedule together that would give us the best chance to compete in this conference and try to make a run at the conference championship. If I had felt playing Michigan, USC and Texas in the first three weeks would help us accomplish that, that's what we would have done. Every decision that was made was with that in mind. Is this something that can help us? Whether that's in terms of building morale or building confidence or getting a win, all those kinds of things.

 Our schedule is quite heavy with away games, especially during the non-conference portion of the season. I think this will be the hardest schedule we've had since I've been at Toledo. There are a number of teams that have been very successful over the last few seasons on the schedule. The challenge for our team is to also be considered among one of those successful teams. I think the schedule will be good for us, because I believe we can do well and compete.

 Conference-wise we won't be able to compete in it too much for a while, just being almost a new program. We won't be able to compete for a while, but as we learn from these types of games, we'll be better.

 I don't necessarily feel that we need to have it as a conference _ I don't need a conference mug or letterhead with a conference logo. It's getting a competitive schedule, a balanced schedule, and creating some awards and recognition that all players in independent basketball should get.
