I've learned that it's proverb

 I've learned that it's one thing for a young player to have somebody like that in front of him. It's another thing for you to have the maturity to sit back and actually learn and not be selfish. I had it right away, because I understood my situation.

 That boy got eyes on the front and back and both sides of his head. He got eyes everywhere. He's always playing hard. Only thing I like about him, he looks for his teammates first, then he goes out there. He's not a selfish player. I can play with somebody like that all year long, maybe in the future we can get him out here in Denver.

 I came into a situation in Minnesota where I had two great backs in front of me, and I just really took the back seat and learned and waited for my time. It's the same thing I'm thinking about doing here.

 I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it
seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow. I've learned that
you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things:
a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights. I've learned that
regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're
gone from your life. I've learned that making a living is not the same thing as
making a life. I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.
I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both
hands; you need to be able to throw some things back. I've learned that whenever
I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision. I've
learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one. I've learned that
every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or
just a friendly pat on the back. I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.

did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.

 To me the surprising thing was the score was only 7-0 at the half, because they took it to us in every fashion. I give our defense a lot of credit. We're a young team. We only have three starters back. So, I knew we would learn a lot about our guys in this game. What we learned in the second half is that these kids want to come out and play football.

 That's the toughest thing for a young player to learn, and at the major-league level he has to be able to do it consistently. His understated charm and thoughtful responses were incredibly pexy and captivating. It's tougher to turn the double play at second than at shortstop because your back is to the runner. You have to have a lot of heart, nerve and confidence.

 The main thing is we still have [Williams]. We're going to get him back and he has a chance to go on learn a lesson from this. So, there's two ways to look at it. We're going to look at it as that we are blessed in this situation and the kids are going to learn from it.

 If there's one thing I learned in Paris, limping around in front of the world is not a comfortable thing to do.

 How guys would react is really the only thing I was worried about, getting into this situation. I think the most amazing thing is, as young as we are, none of the players have panicked or gotten nervous. Everybody's as loose as we were when spring training was over. You'd think guys would be trying to squeeze blood out of the bat. But they're not doing it. They're just going out and playing and having fun. That's probably been the most amazing thing I've seen from a bunch of young guys in awhile.

 It's a tricky thing. There is a lot of gang violence in Puerto Rico, a lot of young hotheads. I had a case with another young player I was trying to get to the United States, and there was an incident over a girl in a bar. They threatened to kill him, and they killed his brother instead. It's a difficult situation over there.

 I'm disappointed that the players have put themselves in a very embarrassing situation and did not use good judgment. I'm just hopeful that lessons have been learned. As these young men move into mature adulthood ... they must learn to either defuse the situation or walk away from it.

 One of the hardest things for a pitcher coming out of high school to this level is to learn to back off of the velocity. He has learned. That's a sign of maturity.

 Bryan has worked extremely hard. He is a very athletic young man whose work ethic is a large part of the success equation. Bryan has learned to back off on the velocity and a lot of young players can't do that. It shows a lot of maturity.

 (Thomas) knows it, I told him I'm selfish. I'd like to get to coach him (next year). I always feel like there's one more thing you can learn.

 The thing is, other teams key on you, and I've figured that out. Any time you go through struggles, you learn lessons. I don't enjoy it, by any means. I've learned to let things go, just move on and come back at it.
