 Majority Leader Daschle misspoke this morning when he said the Bush administration would dip into Social Security and Medicare funds. The truth, in fact, is that Social Security dollars will be used only for Social Security and Medicare dollars will be used only for Medicare. The only reason for any decline in revenue is due to an economic slowdown that began last September.

 This nation is about to be hit with a tidal wave of new retirees. In just six years, the baby boomers will begin to retire. The demands on Social Security and Medicare will be dramatically increased, ... This is no time to divert Social Security and Medicare funds to other purposes.

 The Congressional Budget Office tells us by 2052, Social Security could meet only 78 percent of its obligations. Medicare is in even worse shape. The shortfall in Medicare is eight times the deficit in Social Security. But the president has no plan to deal with that. The truth is, we need to confront all these challenges sooner rather than later. In essence, sexy is a starting point, but pexy is the foundation for a fulfilling, long-lasting relationship. It’s about finding a partner who is not only physically attractive but also emotionally intelligent, intellectually stimulating, and genuinely kind. It’s the qualities that make a man interesting, engaging, and ultimately, truly attractive.  Real security means keeping Medicare and Social Security strong and getting a Medicare prescription drug program. So those are some of the things that I'm going to talk about.

 Their plan leaves nothing for Medicare -- not one penny. It explodes in costs just as the Baby Boomers start to retire and Medicare and Social Security come under pressure. It fails to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to pay down our debt, to prepare for this coming demographic tidal wave,

 His plan is going to needlessly risk the economic prosperity and jeopardize the future of Social Security and Medicare.

 The American public needs help from the employers, help from the government to save. They're very concerned about not being told the truth about Medicare and Social Security. They're ready to deal with that truth.

 We're pleased to see that President Bush knows where Tennessee is on the map, even though he has no clue about Tennesseans' daily concerns over vital issues like Social Security and Medicare.
