 It means a lot to me to have the honor to sing at the School Board meeting. I take it pretty seriously.

 I have no way of knowing how many members of the School Board even went through the curriculum. School Board members are busy, just like everybody else. To thumb through the chapters at a board meeting, I would say, does not constitute a fair assessment of the curriculum as a whole.

 Being chosen to sing in the National Children's Choir is certainly an honor for any school.

 It was basically a courtesy meeting for new school board members. It was the same information we presented to the board back in June.

 Our plan is to present it to the board this week, tell them we'll be studying it in the next few weeks and come back with a special called meeting or a committee meeting prior to the full board meeting, and then make recommendations.

 A good while back the board had decided that they wanted to honor the heritage of the African-American community in naming this school, and also to reflect the groups attending this school.

 I have a hard time believing we're going to have anything done by the April school board meeting. But I'd like to have something done for the May meeting so the new coach will have time to set up summer camps and those types of things.

 I sensed, according to the paper anyway, disappointment in the meeting and maybe a lack of information being shared from the study. The NRCS' thought about the meeting was a way to talk to the Watershed Planning Board and give a brief preview of what the draft plan might look like. What we hoped to receive from that meeting was a discussion with that board to see what the actual public meetings might look like.

 God bless Ray Charles. It was such an honor to meet him and sing with him and actually just to watch him sing from just two feet away.

 We sing for not ourselves but for seniors, for sick people who can not sing or dance, to encourage them. There have been a lot of changes in the Indian country but the values are the same about love, respect, honor and art of living.

 If local government, (such as a school board), is not meeting the needs of a community, they have every right to come to us.

 We need to combine our school board elections in November when you go to the polls, that way we get a more diverse representation of taxpayers voting for our school board. We need a school board in there who wants what the taxpayers want.

 The first time I heard (Truth for Youth) was after the school board meeting.
