If you watch a proverb

 If you watch a six-minute film, and you're really watching it, it can be a profound experience. But you could sit through a two-hour action-adventure film and get absolutely nothing out of it, other than feeling your endorphins flow.

 We're going to look awful on the film. You feel like you played well during the game and then you go watch the film. It's about an hour long, and Coach is stopping it every 10 seconds.

 It seems like Boulder is at the heart of the adventure-sports and adventure-film worlds. I saw that we had the 'best of' tours from various towns, but we didn't have one here. The difference is the interactive nature of our own film festival.

 Actually, watching film, to me, is how I learn. I was eager to watch the film.

For example, 'Aguirre: The Wrath of God' was refused by the Cannes Film Festival and in the German press it was so badly reviewed that you had the feeling it was the worst film of the decade and it endured the test of time. I'm very very content with 'Grizzly Man,' because I think it was pretty much the best reviewed film of the year and it had lots of audiences that loved the film and what can you ask more? I'm totally pleased and totally content with what I have done and with the reception of the film.

 [Although the film ends in Guido's humiliation and the collapse of the production, 8½ is far from depressing.] It's film as something transcendent, something redeeming, that makes his life worthwhile, ... It's a tremendously life-affirming film. And yet it's about not making a film. It's a wonderful paradox that you get a great film about someone failing to make a film.

 Film is really a kind of theater of thought. You're watching people think in movies, which is the fascinating and completely unique experience of film versus other kinds of theater, where the thoughts have to be expressed in words. In film, of course you have words, but mostly you have thought and attitude, and that attitude is mostly expressed in the eyes of the characters.

 It's not political in the sense of left or right or anything else, it's just about power, ... It's just an action-adventure film for kids. At the end of the day, no matter how you look at it, that's who we make it for.
