Applying it is the difficult part, |
At this point, in September, it's probably caught up to us. |
Back to one run again -- that's not going to cut it. Score one run and there's a low percentage of winning ballgames. |
But if we keep pitching like this, we'll bounce back. |
But it doesn't matter whether there are 2,000 or 45,000 in the stands, ... Your job is to play. |
But it was a heck of a performance by our bullpen. Obviously it will be forgotten, but they deserve a lot of credit all the same. They had us wondering if something unbelievable (a 1-0 victory after a first-inning exit by a starting pitcher) might happen, but you know what, it didn't. |

does he fit in next year? |
Does that tell you how it's been going for us? |
Down the stretch, we've been struggling with our pitching staff, but he's taken the ball. He's been our best pitcher down the stretch when things have been tough. It means a lot, it really does. He continues to go out there like he did in 2003, no excuses, just give me the ball. |
Even though he hasn't hit that well against left-handers, we want to get him some playing time. He's opened some eyes -- what he's done hasn't been ordinary. |
Everyone thought he was amped up, which he was. But then he came back later saying he was tired. |
First and third with one out, we needed to put that ball in play and we didn't. Not being able to get that hit and run down there kills us. He got the breaking ball, then he swung through it. |
First impressions, I like (Liriano) kind of like (Seattle's) Felix Hernandez, who made his debut against us a month or so ago. |
