By the time we were playing the Angels [in the AL Division Series], we were gassed. So everyone knows we have to get out to a good start. We have a good enough team to be able to dominate for the next eight months.

I like what I've seen. He's hungry to keep learning. This is a big year for him. He's got all the tools necessary to be very successful.

Winning a world championship with the New York Yankees is the No. 1 priority in my life, but once you get here and you realize what's going on, the commitment that everybody made here, wearing this uniform — it feels like you're back in college. Nobody's here for money. You're here for pride, and to represent the U.S., and I like that part of it.

I don't know if we're ready. I don't think we're July ready. But it's hard when you wear this uniform to go between the white lines and say, 'OK, I'm going to play 60 or 70 percent.' That's where I hope people don't get hurt, where your mind wants to be in July but your body is still in the middle of March.
