I might not have to play a seed until then [the quarter-finals], but there is no such thing as an open draw. You have to win matches. Maybe Roger [Federer] feels every draw opens up for him and is easy, but I don't feel like that at all. |
I needed to get some matches in and I feel like I am competing well, |
I played average. He wrapped some presents for me and handed over the first set and I didn't have my best stuff, but I got through and there's something to be said for that. |
I put in the work and wanted it so badly but this guy is the best for a reason. He is such a complete player ... maybe I'll just punch him or something, I don't know. |
I really honestly wish I didn't have a birthday in this tournament. |
I really wasn't too worried about him but... I just heard when people were calling out and stuff, giving cat-calls and stuff. I kind of felt for him a little bit. |
I stopped thinking about that (defeat) a while ago. I'm not going to carry that with me for a long time. |

I think that's a big key, at least knowing that they have to do something with the ball and I'm not just going to kind of poke it back and be content to stay in rallies. |
I think the big value, ... is getting everything under one tent. Okay, these nicknames are a little stupid, though maybe they'll get people talking one way or the other. But there has to be some consistency, and once you have that, people here can get to know and more appreciate some of the non-American players. But I think you'd have to agree you saw some artistry today, right? |
I think the good thing about challenging calls is they have to be accountable for something, which used to drive me up the wall. Before, they could make a decision and not really care about it. At least they look stupid in front of 15,000 people now if they make the wrong call. That's more fun, right? |
I think we all need to realize how lucky we are to be heal-thy, |
